USAID-Liberia Celebrates Black History Month with We Care Library

IPNEWS-Monrovia: The United States Aid for International Development (USAID) Supervisory Contracting Officer, Andrea Plucknett, yesterday joined the We Care Library, a free public library in Liberia, to celebrate black history month during a special event.

The event brought together educators, students, and an array of Liberians from the diaspora and here in Liberia.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Plucknett gave a background of black history month and spoke about the significance of the annual celebration of the month.

She also spoke about USAID’s development assistance to Liberia which ranges from spurring economic growth to helping educate Liberians and providing them access to health care.

This year’s celebration of Black History Month by the Library coincides with Liberia’s bicentennial and was held under the theme: “In the Spirit of the Bicentennial the American Liberian Connection.” Courtesy: USAID-Liberia
