USAID, Education Ministry Launch New Training Program in Monrovia

IPNEWS-Monrovia: USAID in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has launched its new teacher training program in Monrovia.

The program known as Transforming the Education System for Teachers and Students in Liberia (TESTS) will train at least 3,000 students at 8 higher education teacher training institutions in Liberia.

USAID/Liberia Mission Director, Jim Wright noted the importance of teachers in the education system and added that TESTS represents yet another major investment by the United States in the Liberian education system.

He called on the Government of Liberia to make good on its promise to allocate 20 percent of the national budget for education.

Education Minister Professor Ansu Sonii thanked the United States for its assistance to the education sector. He said his Ministry will continue working with USAID to provide all Liberians access to quality education. Courtesy: USAID-Liberia
