IPNEWS: “I would have decided to invest my money in other businesses such as hotels, entertainments, stories, but due to my difficult path in education, I decided to do a huge investment in the educational sector” Thomas P. Fallah District # 5 Montserrado County.
As Founder and proprietor of the T-Five Academy and the newly established T-Five University College, the Montserrado Lawmaker indicates that there can never be a better way for development rather than developing the minds of citizens, most especially the younger generation through academic and vocational education.
Speaking to journalists Friday following the graduation of 218 students from the T-Five Academy situated in Neezoe Community in Paynesville, Fallah said his desire to invest in the educational sector is based on his difficult path in acquiring quality education, as such he sees it as an obligation to buttress government’s effort of providing quality and affordable education to the public.
“I’m grateful to be called Chairman of Board of a school today. Before if anyone had asked me I would had certainly said no because I never dream of reaching this far of my life with the kinds of early struggle” he added.
Rep. Fallah: “Our mission is to have an indelible mark for the nation through education, which is one of the pillars of the Pro-Poor Agenda.
Like others, I could have decided to invest in drinking bars/entertainment business, hotel or motel and you name it, but I choose education.
I choose education because I went through it and I believe others shouldn’t go through it,”
In his words of encouragement, the Guest Speaker of the occasion, Deputy Youths and Sports Minster for Technical and Vocational Education (TVET), Peter S. Bemah, admonished the graduates to strive for higher education rather than seeing their high school diplomas earned as the end of the tunnel for them.
Minister Bemah furthered encouraged the graduates of the T-Five Academy to prepare for the future by taking advantage of every educational opportunity, using the life of their Proprietor (Rep. Fallah) as a case study for their growth in education.
“He at the same time encouraged those of the graduates who are interested in the skilled-labor market to advantage of vocational skill training areas, adding “TVET is not an alternative but also an actual career path”.
Giving the academic records of the institution, the Principal of the T-Five Academy, Mr. William N. Saydee, vowed the institution’s commitment in continuing to always provide quality education to the public, while at the same time upholding in high esteem moral and ethical values.
Saydee records that the school had an enrolment of 451 males and 437 females, while a total of 218 students were awarded high school diploma having successfully completed the prescribed curriculum of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and requirement of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) by passing at least three or more subjects of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
