—-Vows to Challenge Pres. Weah to the Polls in 2023 Ahead of Meeting key U.S. Congress Officials

IPNEWS: There have speculations to an imminent breakaway of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), from the Collaborating political Parties (CPP), but Cummings and his ANC has always denied such as mere rumors.

Recent outburst by ANC that it was lied upon by outgoing chairperson of the CPP Sen. Nyonblee Karnga- Lawrence that its political leader take responsibility for tempering with the CPP Framework Document could just be a testament to how Cummings and his ANC feels betrayed by members of the CPP.

Ahead of Fridays’, October 15, 2021, handover to Unity Party’s political leader Ambassador Joseph N. Boakia, the Alternative National Congress (ANC) welcomes the Unity Party and its Political Leader, Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai, as incoming Chair of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), however stated that its Executive Committee of the ANC has decided that the Party will not attend the CPP Turning over ceremony by Sen. Nyonblee Karnga- Lawrence .

This decision the ANC stated borders on the exclusion of the ANC from the planning and organization of the Turnover Ceremony, contrary to the practices of the CPP. “We can no longer continue to tolerate a systematic pattern of conduct that willfully violates the established practices in the CPP,” says Daniel Naatehn, National Chairman of the ANC.

Additionally, the ANC said it believes that the program is characterized by wrongful processes, illegal profiteering and sectarian politicization; all practices that are alien to the cherished values of the CPP.

Mr. Alexander B. Cummings: “the ANC will only participate in activities that are legalized within the Framework Document, which includes and binds all four parties, and will no longer be expected to ‘go along’ in good faith, as others are knee-deep in violations and bad faith actions,”.

“The ANC hopes that, unlike the outgoing Chair – Sen. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, the tenure of the incoming Chair will see the CPP reverse course and recommit to doing the right things the right way, as we promised the Liberian people.”

Amidst all the controversies, Mr. Alexander B. Cummings has now categorically said the ANC will challenge incumbent President George Manneh Weah, come 2023 presidential elections, signaling long weeks of speculations of an imminent breakaway.

Speaking to the Voice of America “Night Line Africa Programme” late Saturday evening, Mr. Alexander B. Cummings, ahead of series of meetings with U.S. Congress, Congress officials and top American businessmen, stated that he has better ideals for jump-starting Liberia’s economy which continued experience numerous inflation by creating jobs for the youths.

Mr. Cummings said his expectations ahead of series of scheduled meetings with the U.S. Congress and Congress officials, is he hopes to build stronger ties, answer the hard questions about his perspective on Liberia and how the U.S. Government and Liberia can develop a more cohesive and stronger partnership.

“These meetings are straightly introductory meetings, Get to know you meetings; introducing myself, letting them know Who I am; What I bring to the table, and Understanding their interest and what are perspectives about my prospective for my country” Cummings said ahead of meeting with U.S. Congress.

Touching on why he thinks he could be a better candidate ahead of incumbent president George Weah, Mr. Alexander Cummings stated he brings solution to the many problems Liberians are faced with in present day Liberia, especially with stagnate and stranding economy.

“With my private sector experience; with my success in the private sector, my experience in finance and economics and know how investors think; what attracts them to invest and how business people think about investing and creating jobs, uniquely qualifies us to bring the must need capital investment growth to Liberia.”

“Under president Weah presidency, it’s a known fact, not because I’m in the opposition, all the key indicators in our country seem to be going the wrong way and backwards. And so, given my background, given my experience, I’m better qualified in fixing the number one key challenge facing our country.” Mr. Alexander Cummings told the VOA, Night Line Africa Programme.

On the issues for the establishment of the War and Economic crimes court, the ANC political leader stated he remain supportive for the establishment of a War and Economic cremes court in Liberia

He stated that his conviction for the establishment of a War and Economic crimes court is based on the level of impunity surrounding corruption and blatant disregard for the rule of law.

Mr. Cummings: “You cannot have a country or a organization where people completely disregards the rule of law; They think they can break the rules, break the laws and get away with it. “

“We will like the War and Economics Crime court be established for two reasons. Firstly, to reconcile our country; Make sure people who are hurt by the actions and inactions of others find peace in their hearts. Secondly, the level of corruption and impunity that surround our country. So, then, there is a need for a continued rally for the establishment of the War and Economics Crime court, to end the level of impunity than we can move forward as a country and people.”.

Quiz whether he stand ready to engage and lobby with President Weah and other colleagues for the establishment of a War and Economics Crime court, Cummings cheerfully responded in the affirmative.

 “In the process of establishing this War and Economic crimes court, we cannot do it without involving the political actors.

“To do this without it being a witch-hunt or seen as targeting a few; to see that justice prevail, and to see that we answer the issues of retributive justice, there has to be collective pursuit to doing this. We can put the past behind us and build the foundation for the future. So absolutely I am enthusiastically ready to recommending and engaging all political actors. Cummings stated.
