IPNews-Monrovia: It is now thirty years since Monrovia and its environ when black dark due to switching off the Mount Coffee hydro in April of 1990.

Since then, Monrovia has remain perpetually dark with limited lighting for household and streets.

Now, with this commitment to ensuring Liberia returns to prewar era, President George Manneh Weah, in October 2020, announced the streetlights electrification for Monrovia and its environs, including the Robert’s International Airport highway.

Over the last two week, there have been massive preparation to ensuring this desire do returning streetlights to Monrovia a reality, with the erection of streetlights poles basement in anticipation of the lighting.

On today IPNews team, visited the Congo Town to Boulevard corridors to ascertain why scores of men, especially Liberians were doing.

During the tour, our team find out that currently erecting the streetlights is proudly a Liberian Company called Chris Electrical Corporation.

Chris Electrical Corporation, Chief Executive Officer, Chris Johnson, told IPNews that his company is proud to have being one of the companies chosen to carried out the Special Presidential Streetlights Project.

Chris Johnson stated that his company has the expertise to undertake any kind electrical engineering contract in Liberia and other parts of the World.

“Even though we may seem to be a relatively young company, yet we have the professionals to any kind electrification project.”
“Currently we are collaborating with the government of Liberia in the erection of electric Towers and poles along the Red light to the Kakata, corridors.”
“This current Soeacial Presidential Streetlights project, is from the ELWA to St. Paul Bridge.

Other corridors include the Freeport, to Re light and through Duport. The streetlights electrification project also extend to the Congo Town back road to the Samuel K. Doe, sports complex.

It may be recalled, President George Manneh Weah, during commissioning ceremony on October 5, 2020, pronounced “Let there be light,” when he stretch on the Tubman Boulevard, ELWA junction street lights, in Paynesville, Montserrado County, Liberia.

The immediate illumination impenetrated dark surroundings following the pronouncement by the President of the Republic, George Manneh Weah.

Earier the Liberian Leader made the stated on October 1, 2020 at one of many ceremonies to commemorate his 54th birthday, mimicked the Genesis 1 authority of the Almighty God when He created Light and Day. The first part of the President’s promise benefits communities, specifically between ELWA Junction and Samuel Doe Boulevard in Paynesville, and additional works toward Central Monrovia and other parts of the city are in accelerating pace to achieve results before this year’s Christmas festivities.

“Today is a clear example of what is in stock for Liberia,” the Chief Executive said amid jubilation greeting the spontaneous burst of electricity in a corridor of Paynesville. “Much more is to come as we provide streetlights, working with the LEC to light up 80 more communities soon.”

The President said further: “I have already authorized the payment of Two Million United States Dollars to LEC to cover the city of Monrovia with electricity, and I am happy to showcase this promise into practical reality on my birthday.”

“I promise to do my best, as your president. Only my best is required,” the President said, thanking the people of Liberia for reposing their confidence and trust in him to serve them.

He called on Liberians to remain peaceful and patient as his Government endeavors to meet their heartfelt needs.

“Resist temptations to destabilize the peace and tranquility of the country,” the President stressed. “Whether you are a journalist, opposition politician, civil servant or civil society actor, remember that it is in the best interest of the country and people if everyone realizes their national obligation, works with the national government to make the country what is ought to be.” Pres. Weah stated.
