Calm Restored to Grand Gedeh after Hours of Violence

IPNews-Monrovia: The Joint Security along with the Armed Forces of Liberia has restored calm and order in Grand Gedeh County after some aggrieved residents stormed a hotel where the political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), Alexander Cummings and his entourage, along with District #10, Montserrado County Representative, Hon. Yekeh Kolubah’s, who were held hostage during the early morning hours by a group of aggrieved citizens.

The Joint Security responded swiftly and formed a barricade which prevented protesters from inflicting wounds and intimidating officials of the ANC and Hon. Yekeh Kolubah.

As tensions grew, the Armed Forces of Liberia were very instrumental in working along with the Joint Security to ensure that calm returns to the City of Zwedru, Grand Gedeh.

The Joint Security along with the Armed Forces of Liberia worked very hard in creating a corridor for the safe departure of the ANC political leader and his Entourage.

Meanwhile, the Joint Security aparatus has launched investigation into the matter and assures that all will be done to ensure that all who bear the greatest responsibility for today’s violence will be made to face the full weight of the law.

The Joint Security reassures the public that it remains fully in charge of security and will do everything to protect the peace and stability of the state.
