IPNews-Monrovia: Following Wednesday meeting with the Inter-religious Council of Liberia and Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon has end in a deadlocked.

The deadlocked begin evident after Senator re-echoed that “If the results of the December 8, mid-term senatorial elections are tampered with, that will be the end of the CDC led government.”

Dillion told members of the Inter-religious Council that he stand by his earlier statement due to the unprecedented mandate of President George Weah, to senior government officials and partisans that the Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC, must reclaim the Montserrado County Senatorial seat.

Senator Dillon noted that there is no peace without justice and the maintenance of peace is a collective one and not a few.

He called on members of the Inter-religious Council to ensure the commitment to peace is an obligation of all, including  President George Weah and members of the Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC, who continued to violate the rights and constitutional provisions of many of the laws in recent times.

The meeting which was called by the Inter-religious Council growing out of its mandate to ensure Liberia remain peaceful.

The Secretary and head of the Inter-religious Council delegation Shihk Musa Bamba, stated that Liberia has made tremendous efforts in maintaining the peace and has embarked upon series of meetings and negotiations with relevant national stakeholders in a bid of melting the harsh political temper currently prevailing in the country.

Senator Dillon, minutes after the meeting with the Inter-religious Council, posted: ” Meeting with the Inter-Religious Council of Liberia was frank and candid. We poured our heart and spoke to the core issues affecting good governance and the wellbeing of our country and people”.

“The Council was upfront and clearly stated no ill-will or bias against us. Primary concern was our collective effort to maintain the peace and stability.

Council committed to extending the dialogue to other national stakeholders to ensure justice and peace reign!

We thank the Council for the role being played; we extend special appreciation to our supporters for the prayers and other forms of support. THANK YOU, all of YOU, for standing by and with us. We commit not to let down, with God being in control.”

Meanwhile Acarus Gray has termed the Montserrado County Senator statement as a ‘mere bluff’, which has no capacity and should not be listened to.

Rep. Gray stated that Senator Dillon should focused more on making good campaign promises and delivering the people of Montserrado county out of poverty rather than making empty threats.

Gray said the CDC is massively prepared to win the mid-term Senatorial elections, and stated that no matter of threats against the CDC or Liberia will take the CDC strategic team from going all out for a total victory come December 8,2020.

In recent weeks there have been unprovoked comments coming from both members of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC, and the Opposition block.

In further justification to his comment, Senator Darius Dillon stated in a Facebook post: “The soul of the law is (sound) reasoning.” Let me simplify it!!

Stealing is a crime. If someone or a group of persons “petitioned” you to steal and you stole, you are guilty of stealing. Why? Because you knew that stealing is a crime!

Same way in the Military! It is lawful and right never to follow and implement “unlawful order.” If you enforced an “unlawful order”, you are held liable for the crime committed for following any such “unlawful order.”

Now! The Code of Conduct is Law, and it clearly tells who and what category of public officials that should not be involved or engaged with national political activities. The Code also clearly instructs and expressly sets timelines as to when certain category of public officials seeking to contest for public elective offices should RESIGN from their public jobs.

No such public officials, by the intent and reasoning of the law, can or should be allowed to hide under “people petitioned me to run” as an alibi to flout and grossly violate the law. The same way no sound and responsible person will accept a request or “petition” to steal, is the same way no sound and responsible person should use “people petitioned me” as alibi to violate the law.

A responsible and law-abiding person would say, “No, I am under a Code of Conduct that expressly sets the timeline for me to resign, and the fact I have not or did not resign at the time as enshrined in the law, I cannot honor your “petition” to contest.

Remember! Following “unlawful order” to commit a crime does not free you; you are GUILTY of the violation!!

Yes! “The soul of the law is (sound) reasoning.”
