Crusader for Peace, GAVI, NPHIL & MOH scale up Massive Nationwide COVID-19 Awareness

IPNews-Monrovia: The Liberian Crusaders for Peace, in collaboration and support from GAVI, National Public Health Institute-NPHIL, and  the Incident Management System-IMS, on the fight of COVID-19 in Liberia has began a nationwide awareness activities across Liberia.

With funding from ‘The GAVI Alliance’, is aggressively engaging various county structures, including various County Health Teams in awareness of signs and symptoms, Mask wearing and social or physical distancing on COVID-19 prevention.

The GAVI Alliance (formerly the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation) is a global health partnership of public and private sector organizations dedicated to “immunisation for all”.

The joint efforts by the Crusader for Peace, NPHIL and the Incident Management System, is in resonse to growing confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic.

In recent days both the NPHIL and the Incident Management System-IMS, have step up massive awareness to ensure every citizen take responsibility to protect themselves and family members against the coronavirus by wearing masks, social distancing and hand watching.

At curent, Liberia has recorded a total of 804 COVID-19 cases, 420 active cases, 36 deaths and 324 recoveries, according to Health experts.

Liberia, according to Health officials have reported 34 new confirmed cases within 24 hours and 12 recoveries, no new death.

Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Health has since launched a national campaign for compulsory wearing of masks in public places. The order of wearing mask appears to fall on death ears of many people in the public.

Thirteen of Liberia’s fifteen counties are currently in response to COVID-19 cases.

Before the team departure, Liberia’s international, Cultural Ambassador, and Executive Director, Liberian Crusaders for Peace (LCP), Amb. Juli Endee, stated that her organization is grateful for the immense support from GAVI, NPHILMonrovia City Corporation, and the Incident Management System, to ensure full social mobilization and risk communicators activities across the country.

Amb. Ended told IPMews that the Liberia Crusader for Peace with collaboration from county officials and various county structures will rigorously engaged various communties on COVID-19 and alk the preventive measures associated in returning Liberia to zero Coronavirus case.

Ambassador Endee said they are moving into the counties due to increase cases of COVID-19 confirmed cases.

“This is all about the response to COVID-19. I am sure you are aware of the increase in the number of cases. The counties are reporting increase number of cases and we have project in all the counties with support from Global Alliance on Vaccine and immunization (GAVI) through the Ministry of Health, various preventive measures, to which the Crusaders for Peace has decades of experience in executing.”

Currently the GAVI mission is to save children’s lives and protect people’s health by increasing access to immunization in poor countries. It contributes to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by focusing on performance, outcomes and results.

Liberia Culture Ambassador emphasized the need to wear mask regularly when in public places.

Madam Endee stated that the Cursader for peace is also collabrosting with ths government of Liberia in educating the public about protocols put in place at Robert’s International Airport as normal airoort activities resume last monday, June 21st.

Ambassador Endee is an outstanding social mobilizer and risk communicator that Liberia relies on due to her decades of experiences in health promotion and Risk Communication.

She disclosed that she will be leading another team of risk communicators to Bomi, Cape Mount, Margibi, Bong, Nimba and Grand Bassa counties beginning today.

Queen Endee as she is commonly called stated that her team would be distributing, masks, rice, soap, buckets and flyers of coronavirus messages as they go about creating public awareness.

The Liberia. Cultural Ambassador said President George Weah has made available the materials that will be distributed during the county visits.

She said her team would work with chiefs, women groups and traditional leaders across the country in order to defeat the virus.

Madam Endee said if Liberia will defeat the virus, Liberian must work together.
