IPNews-Monrovia: Days following a shocking confession by the President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Grand Kru County Senate, Albert T. Chie, Hundreds of partisans and supporters of the Ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) have taken on to social media expressing disappointment in Pro-Tempore Albert T. Chie, someone, they [Cdcians] considered as their own.

The ruling (CDC) is still trying to repair the damages that led to the defeat of the party in its strong-hole (Montserrado County) in the 2019 Senatorial by-election which brought opposition candidate Abraham Darius Dillion(Liberty Party) to the Senate.

Amid, the ruling party quest to unseat, Senator Dillion who has now become a thorn in the flesh of the ruling party, one of its Stewart, Senator Chie Wednesday June 4, 2020 in a heated Senate debate openly confessed that he (Senator Chie) was very influential through financial contributions that lead to the victory of Senator Dillion.

Something many Cdcians have taken onto social media to express their disappointment in Senator Chie for his covert dealings which they{Cdcians} considered as one of the major factors that led to the defeat of CDC Candidate Paulitta Wie to Embattled Montserrado County Senator Darius Dillion.

Senator Albert Chie who won in 2014 as an independent candidate in Grand Kru and subsequently, endorsed by his colleagues through a white ballot as President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate in January 2018, officially joined the ruling CDC in 2019 during a heated campaign to ensure that CDC candidate Ms. Pauletta Wie win in the senatorial by-election against Abraham Darius Dillion – candidate of the opposition collaborating parties.

Since his confession, Cdcians took on to a popular facebook page which is run by the special Aide to President George M. Weah “the Sekou Kalasco Damaro Page” to express their frustrations.

“Come 2023, I assumed we will have more Senator Albert Chie who will be pretending to the President. Mr. President, please use Senator Chie scenario as a case study for the 2020 Senatorial election and 2023 general election”- J. Kayleawea Alexander Toteh Sr. writes.

“At least we are getting to know those big hands (CDCians) that supported ADD. We are going to crucify them for betraying us” Emmanuel A. Freemen writes.

“President Weah, you need not to “Trust” Albert Chie anymore. He has betrayed CDC and was the cause of our defeat to Dillion” Alex P. Muhlenberg stated.

Even though the Executive Committee of the ruling CDC is yet to officially comment on the Pro-Temp revelation, but the Vice Chairman for Political Affairs of the CDC, Representative, Moses Acarus Gray wrote on his facebook page by stating “You begged your colleague to pay your poll watchers after you got elected and not during election.

Your fans go on distorting his comments that CDC was betrayed. Listen to the debate folks, comprehension defects”.

In a post interview with Pro-Tempore Wednesday, he noted that he has no regret for his comments, because it was intended to set what he described as “the record straight”.

According to Pro-tempore Chie, the matter to investigate Senator Dillion has been decided by Planary.

It all started when the hearing into the merit and demerit of the complaint by Senator George Tengbeh of Lofa County against Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon turned into personal attacks as Pro-Temp Albert T. Chie revealed his covert dealings the Embattled Montserrado County Senator.

The hearing on Wednesday June 3, 2020 presided over by the President of the Senate; Vice President Jewel Haword Taylor was intended for the plenary to debate whether it is appropriate for the Montserrado County lawmaker to be subjected to investigation for allegedly insulting his colleagues.

Senator Tengbeh in an official complaint to the Senate calls the body to investigate Senator Dillon for allegedly describing the August body as “rotten, useless and spineless” something the Lofa Lawmaker noted “demeaned the Senate”.

After several have debated the mtter, when the Montserrado County lawmaker took the stand to speak, he reechoed the welcoming statement from Pro-Temp Albert Chie in August 2019 when he (Dillion) officially took office.

At that time Pro-tempore Chie said “the power to remove you from here is not with the Liberian people; it is with us here; we alone have that power…. Here, we are master of our own rules.”

In spite of the harsh statement by Pro-tempore Chie, which many considered as a form of intimidation, the Montserrado County lawmaker continues to publicly expose and condemn most of the negative actions of his colleagues.

Senator Dillion felt in trouble with his colleagues, when he publicly disclosed that each Senator was given US$6,500 as operation fund amid the lockdown of the Country during COVID-19.

Recently, following the passage of the recast budget without a debate, Senator Dillon got seriously agitated, and accused his colleagues of bending the rule in favor of the Executive, because they were allegedly bribed with US$20,000 each.

During Wednesday’s hearing Dillion went on to state for the record that “My welcoming statement has been manifested.” hereby, accusing the Pro-Tempore of malice against him, and plotting his removal.

Following Senator Dillon’s statement, Senator Albert T. Chie responded to the Montserrado Lawmaker claims against him by saying, he was speaking in his capacity as Senator of Grand Kru County and not as Pro-Tempore.

Senator Chie revealed that the Montserrado County Legislator was once paid by him from his [Senator Chie’s pocket] and he personally paid his poll watchers following his election as Senators.

“I paid Senator Dillon from my pocket. When he got elected, he couldn’t pay his poll watchers and he came to me for assistance and I assisted him with US$ 3,000. My statement in August 2019 wasn’t to expel him,” he said.

When contacted by Legislative reporters to confirm what Senator Chie said, the Montserrado County lawmaker confirmed that Senator Chie paid his poll watchers because he [Chie] supported him against President Weah.
“I don’t lie, I asked him to assist me and he assisted me against George Weah. Please ask Albert Chie what kind of work he employed me to do because he claimed to be my employer,” stated said.
