IPNews-Monrovia: Controversial gay rights advocate Archie Ponpon, is the children of Liberia are unique and should not be forgotten.

Ponpon stated that amidst COVID19 in Liberia couple with government’s own restrictions in curtailing the spread of the virus, mothers in some slum communities have abandoned their kids in search of daily meals.

This action by those mothers has made their kids vulnerable in the community and leaving them going for hours without a single meal.

As a result of This, human rights advocate, Leroy Archie Ponpon has stepped in to put smiles on the faces of these abandoned kids by providing them with breakfast while they await their parents or guardians to return home.

Archie Ponpon who lives in the densely populated township of Westpoint told our reporter that his action is as a result of a survey conducted within the area.

Ponpon, a one time strong advocate of gas rights in Liberia stated that his gesture is purely humanitarian and not on the basis of politics or for his gay rights campaign.

“We have now transition from just being an advocate into a humanitarian during these Coronavirus crisis in our country. We have started a feeding program but particularly breakfast for kids and adolescent within our community, Westpoint,” Ponpon said.

He continues “we feed about twelve (12) persons on a daily basis with a cup of hot tea and bread and butter beginning from 7:30-9:30 and we spent at least fifty United States dollars (US$50) a day.”

Ponpon indicated that he began his gesture to the under privileged and less fortunate since government pronounced a lockdown measure in the country

The rights advocate stated that his decision to undertake such initiative is as a result of kids being vulnerable within the township and a survey conducted by him within the community.

He clarified that the funds being used to excite such an initiative is his own little resources couple with help from some friends and partners.

The name Archie Ponpon brings to mind the one time guy advocate and a lone protester who has undertaken several protests in Liberia.

To name a few, a hunger strike at the at front of the United States embassy in Monrovia, a lone protest against the government of Liberia brutality against journalists and the burning of the Nowagan flag following the awarding of the Nobel peace prize to from President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Meanwhile, Archie Ponpon is calling on other established Liberian in and out of the country to emulate his action during these health crisis in the country.
