“Glaring Act of Mischief “, Team Octavin Williams Dismisses PUL Leadership Claims over Trashing Injunction; Wants EC Chair Resign

IPNews-Monrovia: The campaign team of PUL Vice President Octavin Williams, has termed statement attributed to the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) 2019, Elections Committee, that recent injunction and temporary restrain place on the holding of last week PUL election has been trashed by the court as glaring act of mischief which clearly show the intend of the Charles Coffey leadership to have a fraudulent polls.

The PUL 2019 Election Committee, on today Wednesday, November 13, 2019, announced the resumption of the judicially-halted elections slated for on Saturday, 16 November 2019.

The committee claims that the injunction prayed for by some members of the PUL have been trashed, but the chairman of the Octavin Williams, campaign Siebo Williams Chairman stated that the pronouncement by the Election Committee is not only a blatant violation and disrespect for the court but a glaring act of mischief which presents its naked desire to proceed with a fraudulent polls.

Team Octavin says there has been no judicial outcome of the case since some members of the PUL filed before the civil law court a petition for the election cancellation.

“What the PUL’s EC is spreading is a misinformation intended to cause confusion amongst journalists and plunge the Union into credibility crisis.”

“The information the EC is refusing to communicate in its deliberate attempt to bring the integrity of the Judiciary into questioning and public disrepute.” The #TeamOctavinwilliams statement said.

Williams wonders why the Election Committee, headed by Jarlawah Tonpo, including the PUL leadership  is not telling the Journalist community facts surrounding the court proceedings when in fact the Election Committee and the PUL leadership as defendants on today Wednesday, November 14, 2019, filed its response (MOTION TO VACATE) to the lawsuit filed by journalists Siebo Williams, Omecee Johnson, Sekou Sheriff and Samuel Hasay.

Siebo Williams: “ What this means is that the Court has opened the case for hearing and that it has been scheduled for Saturday, November 23 2019. So than, it is unfair to the journalism community and the Judiciary that EC chairman Jarlawah Tonpo’s show of significant intellectual disabilities would be a basis for chaos and intent to conduct a fraudulent election.”

“ Team Octavin stands for peace and unity in the Union and is prepared to go to the polls once the fraudulent membership list is trashed and a credible and cleaned voter roll is created and satisfied by all parties.”

The #Teamoctavinwilliams, stated the chairman of the Election committee 2019, Jarlawah Tonpo has demonstrated ill-prepared will to administer a free and fair election of the Press Union of Liberia and should consider taking the back door.

“Mr. Tonpo has demonstrated that he is a troublemaking-interested party, thus it is only reasonable that he stays clear of the PUL electoral process.”

“ #Team Octavin believes that Tonpo is a compromised individual and cannot be trusted to lead a PUL-EC due to his inability to interpret a simple Court Return.” The statement urges Tonpo.

Meanwhile, #Team Octavin urges all members of the Press Union of Liberia to respect the rule of law and ignore Jarlawah Tonpo’s call that there will be election on Saturday, 16 November 2019.
