IPNews-Monrovia: Acting Chairman, Jonathan Weedor, has declared the Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC Candidate Abu Kamara winner of Wednesdayโ€™s August 28,2019, heavily contested rerun in district 15, Montserrado by-election.

According to NECโ€™s acting chairman, Weedor, Abu Kamara received a total vote count of ย 8,678 constituting 49.2 percent, while his main challenger and lone female candidate Telia Urey of the All Liberian Party, with support from the โ€˜Collaborating Political Partiesโ€™, secured 6,868 votes equivalent to 39.9 percent.

According to Commissioner Weedor, with the pronouncement of the final results, Abu Kamara will be officially certificated on Monday of next week at the commissionโ€™s Headquarters.

The re-run of the six disputed precincts in District 15, Montserrado County followed a ruling from the NEC board of commissioners.

The vacancy in District 15, Montserrado County was created by the death of Adolf Lawrence in a motor car accident while returning from the celebration of his 50th birthday in the port city of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

Meanwhile, supporters of Abu Kamara following the climax of the votes, in jubilation, said โ€˜they have recaptured the district from the hands of the oppositionโ€™.

In a related development, Representative Moses Acarus Gray, says the Coalition for Democratic Change is recalibrating to unseat newly installed Montserrado County, Senator Abraham Darius Dillon during the 2020 Senatorial mid-term Election.

It may be recorded, Dillon backed by four opposition collaborating political parties during the just ended Montserrado County Senatorial by-election, won the seat, to his main challenger Paulita Wie of the CDC, backed by the three other political parties including the former ruling party NPP of jailed Liberian President Charles Taylor coming second.

The ruling party has since been straitening to reclaim Montserrado County which had been its stronghold since 2005.

Speaking to IPNews late Wednesday evening at his residence immediately after vote cast, Abu Kamara, and Representative Gray vowed to resign their respective post as a member of the House of Representatives if Senator Darius Dillon is retained come 2020 mid-term election.
