IPNews-Monrovia: Montserrado County Representative Acarous Gray has justified the
failure of the Speaker and the CDC legislative Caucus from attending the funeral of the late Montserrado County District 15 Representative
Adolph Lawrence.

Addressing a news conference Monday in Monrovia, Representative Gray said the decision for the party to boycott the funeral was based on a directive by the Chairman of the party Mulbah Mulbah to avoid confrontation from elements of rival opposition political parties.

Representative Gray also clarified that the decision of the CDC was not a result of any disagreement with the Lawrence’s family but for the sack of peace.

Commenting on the issue of the Speaker Chambers refusal to also attend the funeral ceremony,
Representative attributed the Speaker decision to the decision of late Adolf Lawrence family to change an earlier agreed funeral protocol as required by state tradition but opted to insert into the program impeached Associate Justice of the Honorable Supreme Court, Kabeneh Janneh and Independent Caucus excluding the CDC which the late lawmaker was a full member up to death.

Meanwhile, The Montserrado County Representative Acarus Gray has launched a
campaign calling for a cut in the benefits of lawmakers of the National Legislature.

Representative Gray told legislative reporters that pay cut will include allowances ranging from Constituents medical, Scholarship,
Transportation reimbursement, gasoline and housing among others.

He said the decision will be important to safeguarding Liberia’s struggling economy.

Currently the exchange rate of Liberian dollar to $1.00 United States dollar stand at $178.00 Liberian dollar.

Unfortunately, Representative Acarus Gray, refused to comment of the total amount alloted to each lawmaker as monthly allowances.

Some observers have termed the called as selfish and questioned the sincerity of Representative Gray who did not make such call when he served for the last seven years as Representative under both former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and now his own party, the CDC.
