IPNews-Monrovia-Liberia-Wednesday 28 November 2018: Police in Bong County have arrested a man who early Sunday, November 25, throw acid water on a victim a 30-year-old man identified as Obediah Yarkpawolo.
According to our correspondence in the county, the victim which is currently seeking medical attention at the Phebe Hospital in Bong County had gone to request payment for work done from local cocoa farmer identified as John Deayelah, in Boita, Kokoya District when he came under acid attack according to family sources.
Eyewitness explaining to our reporter said Deayelah attacked Yarkpawolo with acid, causing severe injury to his face and other parts of his body.
According to the eyewitnesses Yarkpawolo was earlier hired by Deayelah to clear a tract of parcel of land where Deayelah was constructing his home but following the conclusion of the clearing Deayelah then refused to pay Yarkpawolo his L$500 as agreed for the service.
They told our reporter that following persistent pursuit by Yarkpawolo for his payment , the local farmer Deayelah allegedly wasted acid water on Yarkpawolo during a scuffle between the two.
On a visit to the Phebe Hospital, our reporter was told by the elder brother of the victim, Jonathan Siafah, that since his brother was admitted at the Phebe Hospital, the family was yet to receive any compensation from the perpetrator or any family member of his.
“ Mt brother our brother condition is bad because since we bought him here (at the hospital) there is no treated administered yet because we don’t have m oney to begin the payment for his treatment,”
“Right now as I speak to you we don’t have any money self to buy medicine and the sore is getting big every day.” Siafah told our reporter.
Siafah is appealing to humanitarian to come to aid of his brother and calls on the government of Liberia to institute speedy trial of the perpetrator who continue to boost that nothing will happen to him.
