Supreme Court Denies Receipt Of Ja’neh Summon By the Senate

The supreme court of Liberia has rejected receipt of any communication from the Liberia senate summoning Associate Justice Kabinah Ja’neh.

According to the clerk of the honorable Supreme Court, the court is yet to receive any communication from the house over the Justice Ja’neh’s summon as being reported in some local media outlets.

The Senate has allegedly issued a Writ of Summon for Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh in connection with his impeachment proceeding on November 19, 2018.

This follows a Bill of Impeachment from the House Representatives with constitutional provision.

The Senate’s November 19, Writ of Summon accused Justice Ja’neh with multiple offenses ranging from theft of property, corruption, proved of misconduct and abuse of power.

The Senate’s writ according to our Judicial correspondent also mandated Justice Ja’neh’s to file his respond before November 30, to set the stage for his impeachment proceeding at the House of Senate.

The Senate’s Writ of Summon comes at the time when the Supreme Court is yet to render its opinion in two Petitions seeking for a Writ of Prohibition and an interpretation of Article 43 of the Consistent of Liberia.

It has been alleged that associate justice yet to receive the senate summon up to date.
