IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-22 June 2018: The Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism, Eugene L. Falgon has discredited rumors that government is after former  ‘talk-show host, and former Deputy Managing Director at the Liberia Broadcasting System-of LBS Patrick Honnah.

“et me say this, because I don’t know who is spreading such imaginary story. We want state here that Patrick Honnah is not a treat t the government of Liberia and we don’t want to begin discussing such lies. He is no treat t this administration and we don’t see why we should be discussing him in the first place”. Minister Falgon said.

Deputy Minister Falgon stated that it was unbelievable to begin discussing issue of a less important person to the government when there were so much to be done.

Minister Falgon: “ Right now the government is focus on ensuring the lives of the Liberian people are fully improved and bringing relief to thousands of Liberians across the country through accessibility of roads and affordable transportation, including low income housing facilities then to be discussing someone who wants to go live America and don’t have the necessary papers and thinks by spreading lies will help his inner quest.”

Speaking further at the  Ministry of information regular Press briefing held at the Charles Gbaiyoun Conference Hall, Falgon said that rumors that government was after Punch FM CEO is  totally inconceivable as Patrick Honnah poses no threat to the government and likewise the government is no threat to him.

“Our recent announcement is all about ensuring better media space and significant compliance to achieving a well-protected media space for the genera good of the country.”

“In 2017 there were 60-75 newspaper, only 14 was incompliance and 46 non-compliance and in 2018 there are only five that are incompliance. Some of these newspapers have not paid for seven (7) years.” “Right now, there are 10 magazines none are incompliance of the law of paying taxes. 25 radio stations in and around the capital in 2017 recorded in the data base, 13 of them incompliance and 12 non-compliance in this year. 10 TV stations, 9 non-compliance, printing houses 2017, 70 in total, and 53 non-compliance.

The Deputy Minister said, Patrick Honder’s radio station is just a community radio station that is no relevant to the government in terms of having any negative impact.

“This government is trying very hard to clean up the mess and we shall continue t d so.”
