Eugene Falgon Wants Positive Criticism for Government; Tells Critics to shutup

IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-15 June 2018: Deputy information Minister has called on Liberian to be positive in their criticism towards the government of Liberia in its strive to better the lives of Liberian and transform the development agenda of the nation.

The Information Deputy Minister for Public Affairs, argues that it was too early to hear criticisms coming from the main opposition party-Unity Party when it had twelve years democratic rule with much international good will, yet, the condition of the country is being appalling.

Eugene Falgon: “I hear a lot from folks in the UP, but I wonder why are they making all the noise when they had twelve years, yet there are s much more to do. My people your wait small; It still too soon for you folks from the Unity Party and others to start criticizing the government negatively.

Falgon made the statement yesterday during the ministry of information weekly press briefings.

He also observes that most Liberians were in the attitude of saying bad things about their country and government without having proper information on issues they talk about-adding that it is a sign of ‘lack of love for country’.

He further said for any government to succeed, it citizen needs to be constructive in their judgement, and thoughts which would add value to the country.

“For the government to succeed all have to put hands on board by collectively working and, looking at things from the patriotic position that Liberia belongs to all.”

‘’This is not an issue of party line, but about Liberia; what can we do to help the country is what matters’’ Minister Fagon added.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister Falgon noted that most opposition leaders are painting the government bad on less important issues such as defaming the government progress in dealing with the issue of dual citizenship by President George Weah which was condemn by Alexander Cummings of the ANC recently on a local radio station.

“Let me say this, people who are using the social media posting and discussing irrelevant matters of government without proper knowledge of the issue to desist as it is a crime and violators will be dealt with in keeping with law. You have right to their opinion; freedom of speech in a democratic country like Liberia, but his government will not encourage false information from the public.” Eugene Falgon caution.

He then used the occasion to lavish praises on the government under the stewardship of President George Weah, for the major transformation taking place- pointing out recent county tour by the president on road projects.
