Bridge Students Cry From Hunger; Complain Of Long Stay Without Food, Want Support

IPNews-Monrovia, Liberia-16 May 2018: Students of the Gboiloble Bridge Public School in Pleebo-Sodeken District in Maryland County are complaining of long stay during school hours without food.

Making the plead recently during site visitation as part of activities marking pre-celebration of the World Press Freedom Day in Maryland, Annie Cooper, a sixth grade student indicated that due to the lack of food on the school campus, students often leave the facilities at 12 noon instead of the usual hour of 15:45, the official time suggested by Bridge International.

According to her, students at the institution are seriously at risk with animals entering classes especially during school hours.

The students are calling on the non-governmental organizations for food support and the fencing of the school facilities on the campus.

“We are calling on development partners and non-governmental organizations to provide aid as much as possible to save lives,’ he added.

At the same time, student Jackson Nyumah lamented that the ability to do work is energy, in that to do work because without food, meaning that many that without food, they can sit in class to understand their lessons while in class.

Meanwhile, on behalf of the school, the school principal in person of Romeo T. Weah has announced that indicated that is difficult for teachers because they are not even on the government`s payroll.

At separate occasion, Weah had earlier stressed on the lack of government and non-governmental organizations` support since the beginning of the school year.

Weah disclosed that he had called for workshop for teachers and administrations of public schools across the country.
