Millennium Challenge To Fund Major Roads Repairs In Liberia

IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-8 May 2018: Millennium Challenge Corporation is expected to fund the repairs of major roads throughtout Liberia in the coming weeks.

According to release from the : Millennium Challenge Corporation -MCC, stated that assessment of the  Condition of all unpaved roads connecting the various county capitals has begun beginning with the Monrovia-Bopolu highway.

The Road Condition Assessment which was formally launched over the weekend will gathered data for the maintenance of primary roads across Liberia.

The release further said that the Liberia Renaissance Construction Company (LRCC) in collaboration with the United States Department of Transportation, VOLPE with support from the Millennium Challenge Account Liberia (MCAL), will carryout the Road Condition Assessment.

The Road condition Assessment is part of the Road project under the Compact supported by the United States Government through its development agency, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Speaking at the launch Friday in Brewerville, outside Monrovia, LRCC President, and Delino Bryant said teams of engineers have been prepared to be dispatched to all regions of Liberia for the assessment.

Mr. Bryant said after the collection of the data within the next two months, the United States Government Department of Transportation, VOLPE will help review and compile the data before submitting them to the Government of Liberia.

He said  information gathered will help the Government of Liberia technically determine the condition of roads and determine the resources needed to maintain them across the country.

Under the Compact, the Millennium Challenge Account Liberia is supporting the Government of Liberia gather road maintenance information and put in place a 5-year master plan for the maintenance of primary roads in the country.
