In Ghana” A Liberian Man fined GH¢18,000 for illegal mining

IPNews-Monrovia,Liberia-12 February 2018:Ghanaian officials has fined a Liberian man in the city of Tarkwa GH¢18,000, for illegal mining and attempt to commit harm.

Paul Nakaah , “a convicted Liberia”, Paul Nakaah, pleaded guilty to the crime due to unemployment but the Tarkwa court has announced that in case of a default convict Paul Nakaah shall serve 48 months in prison.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Juliana Essel-Dadzie told the court that the complainant in the case is a resident of Kaniakor, while the convicted Liberian who currently resides at Nsueam, Tarkwa, Republic of Ghana.

Madam Essel-Dadzie stated that on January 11, 2018, at about 4pm, the complainant saw the convict prospecting for gold in front of his shop and when quizzed on why was he prospecting

for gold the convict and the complainant resulted into a quarrel leaving the convict to stabled the complainant with a chisel on the left cheek causing the complainant to sustained  deep cuts and bled profusely.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP),  Essel-Dadzie further reported in her charged sheet that complainant reported the case to the police and was issued with a medical report form to attend hospital for treatment while on February 2 the convict was arrested by the community police personnel at Nsueam and was later handed over to the Nsueam police to help them in their investigation
