NEC Contractors Protest For Paid –Vow to Visit President-Elect

IPNews-Monrovia, Liberia- 6 January 2018: As the National Elections Commission (NEC) under the Chairmanship of Cllr. Jerome George Korkoya Certificated winners of the October 10 and December 26 run-off Presidential and Representatives elections, contractors hired by the election coordinating was seen protesting for paid at its headquarters on 9th Street, Sinkor.

Some young Liberian professionals  hired by the country electoral body to help conduct the December 26,2017 Presidential run-off election across the country have complain of not been paid for their services render.

According to the protesting National Elections Commission (NEC) workers supervisors decided not pick their calls as the result they are feeling seriously disappointed.

It can be recalled the Communication Director of the National Elections Commission Henry Flomo announced on State Radio on December 29, 2017, during the final run-off presidential elections results that all elections workers are asked to keep listening to the various radio stations as the commission will give date of payment.

Since the pronouncement by the NEC communication Director there has been no further announcement on Radio or in the Newspapers that is according to protesting Elections workers who work on polling date across the country.

The protesting young Liberian who chase from the Headquarters of the National Elections Commission before the 2PM certification program expressed serious disappointment and called on the police to be careful as their labor can’t go in vain.

They have also vowed to march to the residence of the President Elect Senator George Manneh Weah and explain their plights also threaten to protest at the opening of the Liberian Legislature doing the opening, if their money is not paid by NEC.

When contacted via mobile phone the National Elections Commission Communication Director Henry Flomo said procedure has been put in place to have all election contractors paid their money owed  by the Commission.
