True Whig Party Expels Standard Bearer & Two Others

IPNews-Monrovia, Liberia-23 December 2017: The National Executive Committee of the True Whig Party, TWP, has expelled its standard bearer and two other party executives for gross violation of party rules.

The TWP in a released over the weekend and signed by its National Assistant Secretary Β General for Press & Propaganda, Z. Kweque Coleman, says the decision was reached by a unanimous vote taken by Party’s National Executive Committee at an emergency meeting held at the E.J. Roye Building , on Saturday, December 23, 2017.

Those expelled include Eric Olson, former standard bearer of the party, C.T.O. King, former Chairman of Montserrado County, and Rev. Adolphus B.B. Capehart, former TWP Envoy to the United State of America.

The three expelled officials according to the Party’s release were found guilty of violating Article XIV of party’s Rules and Regulations by disseminating wrongful and irresponsible statements to the media against the Party and its officials, and betraying the party to another political institution. Article XIV refers to such individuals as Bolters and their actions are subject to suspension or expulsion from the party.

According to the party , in recent days, the three expelled officials undertook unilateral endorsement of the Unity Party for the run-off elections without the consent and knowledge of the National Executive Committee of the TWP, which had previously voted overwhelmingly to endorse the Coalition for Democratic Change, CDC.

“The National Executive Committee of the True Whig Party considers the actions of the three expelled executives as irresponsible, arrogant and misguided, with the effect of bringing the party into public ridicule”.Β Z. Kweque Coleman, said.

Meanwhile, the expelled officials have been barred from entry on the premises of the TWP headquarters and are called upon to turn over any documents or property of the party that is in their possession.

The TWP further reiterates its support and endorsement of the Coalition for Democratic Change in the ensuing run-off presidential elections.
