IPNews-Logan Town-Monrovia-2019: The only lone female in the highly contested district No. 15, Montserrado by-election, Telia Urey has conceded defeat to her main challenger, Abu Kamara , of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC.<\/p>\n

The rerun which was announced this week by the National Elections Commission, followed a long legal battle at the NEC\u2019S hearing officer, which was witnessed by all Commissioners of the NEC, Political parties litigants and observers.<\/p>\n

In a rather usual Facebook page post late this evening , ,miss Telia Urey stated that after a fierce campaign fight, for the betterment of Liberia, yet her team has lost to the forces of evil (Abu Kamara).<\/p>\n

Telia Urey:\u00a0 \u201c Against so many odds and evil, we fought fiercely! Not for personal gains, but for a better district and a better Liberia. We may have lost this election, but we have won the confidence and trust of our people. Our fight will continue for the rest of our lives!<\/p>\n

\u201cTo our supporters, we can\u2019t thank you enough for everything you\u2019ve put into this process. Our struggle for your lives to get better has just begun! You can always count on me to be there!<\/p>\n

Miss Telia Urey acknowledgement followed reports of vote purchased by the Abu Kamara\u2019s campaign team for LRD 7,000.00, against the election laws of Liberia. But the Abu Kamara, simply victorious camp has rubbished the report, terming it as \u2018lazy accusation\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the heels of last day of campaigning, Police charged four persons in alleged connection to the recent attack on opposition representative candidate Ms. Telia Urey in Montserrado County District #15.<\/p>\n

The four persons, according to Police, were are Joseph Bropleh, Prince Kollie, Willington Kumeh and Romeo Nyankun were charged with \u2018criminal mischief and theft of property\u2019 after investigation into bloody post electoral violence that received condemnations from several stakeholders, including Liberians \u00a0at home and abroad.<\/p>\n

It may be recorded, on yesterday, Tuesday, August 27, \u00a0three were detained at the Monrovia Central Prison by Magistrate Ernest Bana for their failure to obtain a valid criminal appearance bond.<\/p>\n

The Liberian National Police claimed that it arrested four persons on August 17, 2019, in connection to the violence.<\/p>\n

According to police, during the time violence, the supporters of the two candidates were involved into physical confrontations leading to persons on both sides being affected.<\/p>\n

Police charged sheet reviewed that during their investigation, defendants admitted to taking part in the violence, and expressed regrets for action, following previous denial of involvement.<\/p>\n

The Police records further stated that their investigation established on August 17, 2019, that Telia Urey visited the Logan Town Community, where she attended a wedding ceremony and later decided to go over to the office of Kelvin Bayoh, a defeated candidate in the same representative by-election, when she came under an unprovoked attack.<\/p>\n

At the moment, there is heavy Police presence in Logan Town and its environs.<\/p>\n

Political observers have praised the maturity of Miss Telia Urey in early accepting the defeat which would greatly advert further post elections confrontations.<\/p>\n
