IPNEWS: The Informations center for the government of Liberia, Ministry of Informations, Culture Affairs & Tourism has with immediate effect halted popular Liberia Reality TV show “Big Brabee Liberia” against screening Live content that goes against the established guidelines on public decency and obscenity.
Big Brabee Liberia is a reality TV show broadcast on two channels, namely Channel 2 SATCON & Tamma TV Facebook Live in Liberia and in which number of contestants domicile in an isolated house trying to avoid being evicted by the public with the aims of winning large cash prize at the end of the run.
The organizers BBL on Monday July 5, 2021 was told to halt the showing or broadcast of sexually explicit images, video and audio, or contents that run against Liberian cultural values.
According to the government’s release issued and read by the Deputy Minister of Informations Culture Affairs & Tourism, Daniel Gayedyu called on the leadership of BBL to unconditionally abide by all regulations and guidelines signed with the government through the Ministry of Information when applied for their license to OPERATE the TV show, BIG Brabe TV.
“MICAT’s rules forbid the airing of contents that are obscene and sexually explicit, appealing to prurient interest” the Minister asserted.
The two Deputy Ministers, Boakai M. Fofana and Lance Gba-goyon warned BBL to refrain from airing such unpleasant video or risk losing it’s OPERATION permit given them by the government of Liberia.
The ministers in a strong tones said that they Will not accept any media organ to abuse the airwaves in the territorial border of Liberia and go with impunity.
However, the BBL’s Executive Director Fred Ola Ola appeal on behalf of his organization promised to ensure that they scrupulously
follow MICAT’s rules and guidelines.
MICATS bosses maintained that they will assign an inspectors with BBL’s MANAGEMENT to monitor the production team in order to ensure they are in strict compliance to the government’s policy that protects the airwaves.
