IPNews-Monrovia: President George Manneh Weah has requested members of the  Liberian Senate to authorize Central Bank of Liberia to infuse four billion Liberian dollars into the economy

The President in the communication to Senate   Pro-temp Albert Chie stated that the four billion Liberian dollars to be infused in the economy by the CBL is different from the ongoing discussion surrounding the printing of 35 billion new Liberian dollar Banknotes .

Recently, Montserrado County district No. 10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah displayed new Liberian banknotes dollar accusing the government of printing and bringing the money into the country without the approval of the Legislature 50 billion new banknotes, the claims which has since been rubbished by information Eugene Nagbe as a ‘mad man’.

But minutes after the reading of the communication yesterday, opposition lawmakers mainly from the former running Unity Party resisted that the request by the Liberian leader has committed an impeachable offense, and called on the Senate to institute full investigation into the source of the newly seen banknotes which is expected to be infused in the economy.

Meanwhile, two Montserrado Representatives Hanson Kiazolu and Rustonlyn Dennis have described President George Weah’s letter seeking legislative authorization to infuse four billion Liberian dollars into the Liberian economy as ‘disgraceful, embarrassing, and illegal’.

At the same time, the former governing Unity Party says the request by the president is an attempt to violate the Liberian Constitution.

It may be recalled, in recent weeks there have been controversies over the printing of new Liberian banknotes with some lawmakers requesting proper accounting of the 25 Million mop up funds which has lingered for sometimes now.

Other lawmakers contested that full report be made on the disappearance of 16 billion Liberian dollars which sent shock waves across the world.

The Weah’s government has always insisted it did nothing wrong over the disappearance of the alleged missing 16 billion Liberian banknotes.
