IPNews-Monrovia: Liberia’s Minister of State Nathaniel McGill has rubbished recent claims by Augustine Weah, on the Voice of America, day break Africa programme of a bribery request made by Minister McGill of over 500 thousand United States for an investment opportunity he was instrumental in establishing in the Liberian capital Monrovia.

Augustine Weah, who claimed to be first cousin of President George Manneh Weah, stated that following his unwillingness to pay Minister McGill the mouthwatering 500 thousand, he begun a chase-out operation of him from the country.

But Minister Nathaniel McGill speaking to the Voice of America daybreak Africa programme, early Monday morning stated that Augustine Weah claims was baseless and an attempt to bring his reputation into questioning.

“This Augustine Weah is common criminal who goes around claiming to be the cousin of President George Weah. He is not a relative of President Weah”

“What sense does this make to have a man with an investment capital wanting to deal with me rather than applying and working with the National Investment Commission? If this was true, I would been immediately dismissed by President George Weah. This president I know, does not accept corruption and certainly the claims are untrue” McGill told VOA.

On the issues of deteriorating economic condition in the country, Minister McGill, stated that government was continuing its relentless negotiation with all relevant government Agencies and partners in resuscitating the worsening economic condition but call on Liberians to collective work with the government in repairing the economic condition of the country rather than wanting to undermine gains made by the government and people by resulting into unwarranted and undemocratic actions such as baseless demonstrations.

He told VOA James Butty that calls by some Oppositions for President George Weah step down were unpatriotic and unacceptable.

“The current economic condition of the country requires collective efforts for all and not just the government alone. Right now, we all should be thinking on how to expand the gains and not trying subvert the tremendous successes by Liberians and its international partners in bringing peace and tranquility.

McGill expressed confidence that civil Servants salary arrears will be settle as the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Samuel Tweah, has informed the Liberian leader George Weah, that Civil Servants salary arrears are being settled at the moment.
