IPNews-Monrovia: The Executive Management Consultant of the National Port Authority Civicus Siokin Barsi-Giah has urged students of Cuttington University in Suakoko District, Bong County, to stand up and be the light that will twinkle for the University.
Mr. Barsi-Giah, who proxy for his boss Dr. Bill Twehway, at the induction ceremony, of the 17th Student Legislative Council, admonished the SLC leaders to serve with passion. He believes passion paves the way for national leadership.
The Executive Management Consultant and Senatorial candidate of Grand Bassa County at the occasion described education as the light that opens any door.
Barsi-Giah said without an education, one cannot achieve anything. He said many Liberians are not performing to the hopes of the employers in society because they did not get the right kind of education.
He stated that if one is fully educated, they will always see unlimited possibilities in every difficult situation. ‘Education allows you to know when and what to do at a particular time; adding, education gives one confidence,’ Civicus added.
Mr. Barsi-Giah, the Founder of the ‘Let’s go to College after High School’ is therefore encouraging youthful Liberians to always seek the right kind of education that will help to make them successful in their careers.
He then hailed the University President Dr. Herman B. Browne for the level to which he has reached the institution. Dr. Browne, according to Civicus, has industriously and tirelessly served the University over the years.
Speaking further Barsi-Giah told IPNews that since the appointment of Dr. Browne as President of the university, several academic programs for students of the three campuses have been improved.
For his part the President of the Cuttington Students Union CUSU, Lee T. Mason lauded the students for the confidence imposed in him as council president of the University. He then promised to buttress the effort of the administration of Cuttington in Bong County in providing the needed atmosphere for learning as picture of the physical to the reality of the imaginary.
Mr. Mason explains that during his regime he will lobby with the University Administration, Faculty, Board of Trustees and the County authorities to achieve their goals. “We will improve students health and education services, consider some needed facilities like updating the school’s library with much needed and sufficient books that will meet the growing number of students and current information the world is seeking” the CUSU president concluded.
