“Pro- Abu Kamara Supporters Instigated Violence Today in D-15”, Police Spokesman Moses Carter Gives Update

IPNews-Monrovia: Police spokesman H. Moses Carter, says supporters of Abu Kamara instigated today’s violence in the Logan Town , community which left a scene of pandemonium.

The spokesman told IPNews via mobile phone that Miss Telia Urey had gone into the Logan Town Community to hold a town hall meeting with some of her supporters within the same vicinity her man challenger Abu Kamara, of the governing Coalition for Change-CDC.

According to Police spokesman Carter, during the incident supporters of Abu Kamara disrupted the meting leaving to stone throwing with minor injuries on both sides.

He narrated that there was about ten Police officers on the scene of the incident who were overpowered by the rioting, leading to the call-in of reinforcement of the officers of the Police Support Unit-PSU, who jointly brought the situation under control.

On the whereabouts of Miss Telia Urey, Police spokesman Moses Carter explained that she was rescued by officers of the PSU and taken out of the contested area where she is now save.

This paper could not independently confirmed the police claim by victim Telia Urey , neither authorities of the Collaborating Political Parties, including the campaign team of Miss Urey.

However, reports emerged late this evening in Monrovia, of the adoption of Miss Telia Urey, leader in the just ended Montserrado County District 15 by-election, in a building in Logan Town, a suburb outside the capital Monrovia.

According to the report Madam Telia Urey was attacked by some unknown people believed to be supporters of her main contender, Abu Kamara of the ruling party-the Coalition for Democratic Change-CDC, which is now being confirmed by the Liberia National Police-LNP.

A video circulating on Facebook shows her smashed vehicle escaping a mob and suddenly lost control and ran into a wall. However, there has been no independent verification to how many persons were on board the vehicle.

According to reports miss Telia was reportedly hidding in a building and there are reports of the mob threatening to burn down the building.

This is the second riot in the district since the announcement on the holding a re-run in contested election at six polling places in a prescient by the National Elections Commission of Liberia, following allegation of vote wrecking by the opposition collaborating parties comprising the All Liberian Party-ALP, the Unity Party, Alternative National Congress and the Liberty Party-LP.

This paper is making frantic efforts in getting Madam Telia Urey, but both phones are off. Meanwhile efforts to get authorities of the Liberia National Police on the matter is continuing.  More detail comes in on the incident shortly. (courtesy of IPNews & Front Page Africa)
