“Our Country Depends on You” …Culture Envoy Tells Graduates, Youth

IPNEWS: Liberia’s Arts and Culture Ambassador, Kekura M. Kamara has reminded Liberian youth about their immense power to change the future of the country towards progress.

The Liberian culture envoy urged the graduates and Liberian youth at large to stand the ground of the artists, the innovators, the leaders, and the change-makers that Liberia needs to thrive by putting their education into proper use.

But Ambassador Kamara said it takes commitment to make those positive changes that will positively shape and impact the various sectors of the country.

The Liberian Culture envoy made these statements Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the graduation ceremony of the Mount Camel Institute on the GSA Road in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

“As you embark on the next stage of your journey, I want to remind you of the immense power that lies within each of you the power to shape your future, to impact your community, and to contribute to the progress of our nation. In every corner of Liberia, from the streets of Monrovia to the villages beyond, your talents, your passion, and your commitment are needed now more than ever,” stated Mr. Kamara.

“Remember, your education is not just about acquiring facts and passing exams. It is about developing the skills to think critically, to solve problems, and to engage with the world around you. It is about being bold enough to take risks, resilient enough to learn from failure, and determined enough to never give up on your goals.”

“Be the author of your own destiny. Be the change makers that Liberia needs to move forward. Carry with you the values of integrity, respect for others. And it foundation for successful life. Liberia’s future depends on. Serve with joy and proud but this is just the first step. Shape. Make Mount Camel, your family and Liberia proud.”

And as a means to maintain peaceful co-existence, he urged the graduates and all youth at large to protect and to promote the country’s rich cultural heritage.

“As Ambassador for Arts and Culture, I cannot overstate the value of creativity and self-expression in building a vibrant and united society. Liberia’s rich cultural heritage is a treasure that you, the next generation, must protect and promote. Our arts, our music, our storytelling these are not only expressions of who we are but also Powerful tools for healing, understanding, and progress.”

“As you leave Mount Carmel today, carry with you the values of integrity, respect, and service to others. These values will guide you in moments of uncertainty, and they will be the foundation upon which you build a life of meaning and purpose. Be proud of your accomplishments, but remain humble and open to learning from others. Liberia’s future depends on the youth-on your energy, your ideas, and your commitment to making a difference.”

“In closing, I want to express my deepest congratulations to the graduates. You have worked hard to reach this point, and today, you should celebrate with joy and pride. But remember, this is only the beginning. There is a world out there waiting for your talents and contributions.”

In a related development, Ambassador Kamara has called on the Legislature to speedily ratify treaties and conventions of UNESCO for the benefit of Liberia.

“By doing so, it would be a great source of incomes for our educational sector.”
