Pres. Boakai to Receive Nigeria’s Highest Honor

IPNEWS: Liberia’s President Joseph Boakai is among top African leaders expected to be honored at the upcoming Democracy Heroes Award Africa in recognition of their contributions towards the enrichment of Democratic norms in Nigerian Society and the African continent as a whole.

President Boakai who leads this year’s prestigious award, defeated former football Star George Weah in a keenly contested election and was inaugurated earlier in the year.

Nigerian leaders who have also made significant impacts in entrenching good governance will be honored.

They include the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani; his Nigeria counterpart, Mohamed Umar Bago, and the Chief Executive Officer of Zamfara state, Dauda Lawal.

Others include Governors Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, and Nasir Idris of Kebbi state, as well as the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Woke.

The award also recognizes entrepreneurs, businesses, and entertainers whose contributions have helped entrenched stability through job creation, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation measures.

The Democracy Heroes Award is hosted by Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN).

Project Director FND, Olufunsho Ajagbonna l, aka Fajag, in a chat with Journalists in Abuja, said that , like the previous editions of the Award, those who emerged this year were chosen after a rigorous process, including popular choice in online voting.

Awardees will be officially conferred at a ceremony on October 2,2024, at Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton , Abuja.
