MFDP Minister Augustine Ngafuan Wants Ease on Bureaucracy that Hinders National Development Plan

IPNEWS: Finance and Development Minister, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan is calling for an unconditional ease on bureaucratic procedures that continued to undercut National Development Plan including the 2025 National Budget

Speaking during the weekend in Monrovia at an engagement, which brought together the Ministries of Finance and Internal Affairs, and County Legislative Caucuses, the minister emphasized the urgency of meeting the government’s ambitious November 30 deadline for the formulation of the new ARREST Agenda.

The engagement is part of a wider consultation process involving county officials and lawmakers, aimed at ensuring local priorities are reflected in national policies.

He highlighted the importance of linking the National Development Agenda, the county-level County Development Agenda and the 2025 National Budget, ensuring that all three documents are aligned to avoid inefficiency and waste of resources.

He acknowledged that in previous years, there was a disconnection between local and national planning; an issue he is keen to resolve. “We want to be able to forge linkages between and among these plans.

Minister Ngafuan warned that focusing too much on procedures could derail the development process, underscoring that flexibility is required to move Liberia forward.

The top government official insisted that local needs must be heard and factored into the overall development agenda.
