The Law Must Be followed In Yellow Machine Bonanza

Few nights ago, Liberians celebrated as the first batch of 285 pieces of the much talked about yellow machines and other equipment, including dump trucks. The earth-moving equipment were driven from the Freeport of Monrovia, where they had been discharged from a ship that brought them into the country. They were driven through the Japan Freeway onto the Edward Binyan Kessellee Military Barrack where they are now being kept.

Certainly, those Liberians are yearning for paved roads across the country to enable easy access. Some of those Liberians hailed from hard-to-reach parts of the country, especially during the Rainy Season. So, they applauded and danced when those machines were paraded.

However, the critical question remains why open and full disclosure of the deal to get the machines to Liberia has not been made legally. Especially, when members of the 55th Legislature, who are direct representatives of people, and who should be informed every step of the way, are left in limbo with no knowledge of the negotiations that led to the arrival of an initial batch, which are 22 pieces.

Yes! the Liberian public demands the full detail about the machines, especially commitments made on behalf of the country in securing and bringing them to Liberia.

We further demand proper understanding of what is expected of Liberia with this ambitious plan for the utilization of the yellow machines.
