Ministry of Health Holds Health Information System Ledger Review Meeting

IPNEWS: In an effort to strengthen the Health Information System of Liberia, the Ministry of Health through its Health Information System unit has begun a five-day HIS Ledgers review Meeting with Health workers in Monrovia, the Review begun on Monday May 13, 2024, and it’s expected to last up to Friday May 17, 2024.

Day one of the review brought together scores of Health workers from across the fifteen (15) counties in Liberia, and it covered several Ledgers that were comprehensively reviewed among the health workers. Ledgers being review include Master Register, Antenatal Delivery Register, Normal Delivery Register, Post-Abortion Comprehensive Register, Postnatal care Register and Maternity Inpatient Register.

Others are Family Planning Register, Above Five and under Five Registers, Mental Health Register, NTDs and NCDs Registers, General Inpatient Register, Immunization Fixed/Outreach Registers, Community Health Register, Nutrition Register, TB Quarterly Register, Blood Safety Register, HIV Counseling and Testing Register, HIV treatment Register and ART Register.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Health Dr. Louise M. Kpoto, the Deputy Ministry for Planning and Policy, Hon. Malayah Tamba Chieyo said that the significance of Health data cannot be overly emphasized. According to Him, the need for healthcare workers to assemble with the sole Purpose of discussing data collection improvement and utilization, especially Health data is not just necessary but extremely important.

Hon. Chieyo stressed that the participation of all Healthcare providers in such task are invaluable as they strive to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of Health Data Management System.

Continuing, the Deputy Minister for Planning and Policy says the collaboration underscores Healthcare works commitment to continue improvement and ensuring the higher standard of data collection and reporting in the HealthCare Sector.

Deputy Minister Chieyo added that the coming together of these HealthCare workers to access and refine Health data will begin to strengthen their ability to monitor and evaluate Health outcome efficiently and effectively.

In conclusion, Hon. Chieyo encouraged Healthcare workers to have an open dialogue, constructive feedback and innovative ideas that will contribute to the advancement of Health Data Management process and practices, as He said together, they can optimize their tools to better meet the need of communities.

The Ministry of Health HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEM (HIS) Ledger review meeting is a Comprehensive review that comes up once after every five years as per the HIS policy, it allows the Ministry to Capture new emerging indicators according to international standard to have the past ledgers renewed.
