-As NEC Announces Official Results Shortly
IPNEWS: The November 14 elections have come and gone but both political parties that took part in the polls are celebrating victory.
Speaking on Wednesday at his District 10 office, Yekeh Kulubah, told scores of supporters that Amb. Joseph N. Boakia had won the elections according to the tallying sheets in the Unity Party’s position.
Representative Kulubah said while they (Unity Party) were celebrating their victory, they were harassed by officers of the Liberian National Police who arrived with two unidentified vehicles and a police pickup and vandalized the Congress Youth Chairman’s pickup and took away phones that belonged to a journalist that was covering the event along with militant of the Congress.
He added that the Unity Party is committed to peaceful elections in the Country and that no one can take the elections from the Unity Party.
Hon. Kulubah furthered that the of Liberia votes were protected and that all of the tallying sheets were in their procession adding that Amb. Joseph N. Boakia had won the elections.
He then called on all characters of the UP to begin celebrating victory across the Country noting that the Unity Party had in her procession 70% of the results.
Adding that President George M. Weah is a one-term president. He said that the vehicle that was damaged by the police should be repaired by the president inserting that “the arrest that was made was for no reason”.
Representative Kulubah ended by giving his supporters the mandate to start celebrating the victory of Amb. Joseph N. Boakia as president of Liberia.
At the same time on Tuesday night, there was a huge crowd of CDCians seen on the streets of New Kru Town celebrating the victory of President George M. Weah.
Observers are saying this could lead to the disruption of the hard-earned peace Liberia has enjoyed. Both parties not waiting for the official results from the National Elections Commission.
