-Former Warlord, Evangelist Joshua Milton Blahyi, alias “Butt Naked” Charges; Stresses That He Has Pieces of Evidence to Prove It
IPNEWS – Evangelist Joshua Milton Blahyi, who, unfortunately, is still famously known by his nom-de-guerre, “General Butt Naked,” has come out strong to bash the George Weah-led Administration of supporting and or working in favor of narcotics at the detriment of Liberian parents and their children, who are hooked on these very harmful substances.
Appearing on a local radio station on Monday, September 18, the Evangelist stressed that he has pieces of evidence to proof his claims against the Liberian government, while, however, stressing that no government has won the war against drugs.
“Precisely, no government on earth has actually won the war against drugs. The American Government has spent trillion of dollars fighting against drugs. For more than 70 years now, America has no victory to show in this fight against drugs,” according to him.
Notwithstanding, he argued that while no government in the world can fight drugs and eradicate it, but serious governments can take some concrete actions that can help their nations and peoples to drastically reduce the illegal substances.
“But there are actions every government takes to give a plain playing field. And this government, has never given that, is not giving that. The government is even fighting on one side: it is fighting on the side of drugs,” he stated as he responded to a particular concern as to whether the present Liberian Administration under Weah is doing anything worthwhile in the fight against drugs.
Evangelist Blahyi stressed that he has tons of evidence to proof his allegations against the government that it is on the side of drugs.
He bravely named Pres. Weah’s Jamaica Resort and several of his homes as being places that drugs can be found.
He disclosed that some of young men that he is presently working with to detox have been able to describe in details the compound of the President’s Jamaica Resort.
Work Evang Blahyi Is Doing Against Drugs
At the moment, Blahyi has started an initiative that he calls Proud Liberians Against Drug Abuse. He stated that this initiative is a movement that he will bring to get the signatures of at least one million Liberians. These Liberians will make at least a dollar commitment to the “movement”.
“Among other things, we are going to help parents to detect early signs of drugs in their children; we are also going to make people understand the different types of drugs and people will be able to point out vehicles that are conveying drugs from one point to another. This is a going to be human-effort approach to fighting this,” he stated.
As to the source of his funding since the government was yet to come in to buttress his efforts, he praised God for being the Source of all the supports that have made it possible for his movement to be successful.
The Christian evangelist also spoke of how former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf drilled him around, made commitment to him but never came through on her commitments. He has been trying to detox young Liberian men since 2007. He has help to remove at least 580 young people, who were on drugs.
“We are willing to go any length to discourage the intake of drugs. No one country has ever won the war against drugs. America has spent trillions of dollars but is yet to win the war.
He admitted that he helped to drug some of the men that he is doing all to detox today.
“During the April 6th war in 1996, I took a canoe and went on high seas to a Mexican ship that was anchored there. I sold them gold and diamond in exchange for cocaine and other drugs to come and give it to my boys who were fighting along with me.”
These young men were turned into killing machines. In 2008, when he testified before the Liberia’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), he admitted that he and his men killed over 20,000 people. At the hearing, he begged Liberians for mercy and forgiveness. However, he has said that he is willing to pay the price for his action.
Gov’t Response to His Claims
Responding the Evangelist Blahyi’s claims the government, the Deputy Spokesman for the Liberian Government, Mr. Jallahwah Tonpo, who is Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Information, described Blahyi as a “broad day liar.”
Tonpe argued that the government is doing all to help Liberians who have found themselves on the wrong side of illicit substance abuse.
According to him, the government has passed the drug law that is non-billable; adding: “So, it is now left with Liberians to report anyone they suspect of pushing drugs in their communities.”
“This gov’t is on record of apprehending and prosecuting anyone found dealing in illicit drugs. Milton Blahyi is a broad day lair.
“Gov’t is not part of anyone importing illicit drugs; he Milton Blahyi is one of those who traumatized young people in the country when he forced these young people to kill. He and others gave them drugs,” Tonpo added.
