—- As Intense Lobby for Release to Lawyer Continues

IPNEWS: Police sources say former Chief Justice of Liberia, may spend the first night in a Police withholding cell following charges for Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, and False Testimony to Law Enforcement officers.

According to a Police source, there was an ongoing intense lobby behind the scenes to have the former Chief Justice turnover to her lawyers and brought back tomorrow Wednesday, June 21, at 9:00 A.M.

Contacts by the authoritative Independent Probe Newspaper, to Police spokesman H. Moses Carter intimated that the Police were still investigating and had not made public notice of purported charges in the media.

Carter told IPNEWS that Police authorities as part of the ongoing investigation will announce shortly the final decision by the government of Liberia in the case involving the former chief Justice.

Earlier this morning, close associates of former Justice Gloria Scott informed IPNEWS that Police in Monrovia had formally charged and were working on modalities to send Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, and three other family members to court on four-count charges of Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, and False Testimony to Law Enforcement officers.

According to our correspondent at the Liberia National Police Headquarters, the former Chief Justice was handed an arrest warrant and charged with the crime of Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, and False Testimony to Law Enforcement officers, in the case involving the killing of her daughter Charloe Musu, who was reportedly stabbed multiple times with a sharp instrument, sometime in March this year.

Those indicted along with Cllr. Scott is Rebecca Youdeh Wisner, Gertrude Newton, and Alice Johnson.

Early this morning, IPNEWS reported of a plan to formally indict the former Chief Justice.

Unimpeachable sources within the corridors of the Ministry of Justice and LNP had hinted the authoritative Independent Probe newspaper that former Chief Justice Scott and three members of her family were expected to make an appearance at the Headquarters of the Liberia National Police today’s, Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Other sources within the LNP had downplayed the speculations of the former Chief Justice being expected to be formally indicted.

The LNP last Wednesday, requested the Legal Team of Justice Scott to present her and three other family members on Thursday, June 15, at 9:00 am, but their appearance was postponed to Friday, June 16, 2023.

On Friday morning, amid heavy deployment of riot and armed police on the grounds of the LNP Headquarters, Justice Scott’s lawyers presented a letter of excuse, asking for an extension to Tuesday, June 20, 2023, citing health reasons.

The police gave no particular reason for the latest request, but again, in the wake of that, unofficial information about Justice Scott’s planned arrest has emerged.

The three other family members expected at the LNP Headquarters are her aunt, Rebecca Youdeh Wisner, Gertrude Newton and Alice Johnson or AC.
