UP Youth League Accuses Jefferson Koijee Over Death of Yana Boy President

— But Jefferson Koijee Rubbishes Accusation; Says Allegation is Mere Distraction

IPNEWS: The former ruling Unity Party (UP), National Youth Congress, has linked CDC Secretary-General, and Mayor, City of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee, to the mysterious death of the late President of the Yana Boys Association of Liberia, Prince Kollie.

Kollie reportedly died as the result of a tragic motor accident, but the Unity Party National Youth League says it believes that it was a deliberate car-ramming attack carried out with the purpose of assassinating Kollie, on orders of the ruling party’s Secretary General, Mayor Koijee.

The Yana Boys Association, a conglomeration of street sellers and hustlers in Monrovia and its environs.

According to the UP National Youth Congress, prior to his mysterious death, the late Yana Boy President Kollie was a staunch supporter of Unity Party’s candidate, Ambassador Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s presidential bid at the dislike of Mayor Koijee.

In a statement released in Monrovia over the weekend,  the UP National Congress disclosed that after the death of Kollie, its intelligence bureau launched an investigation, following which the Youth Congress says it has discovered among other things that the death of the President of the Yana Boys Association was a deliberate car-ramming incident masterminded by Mayor Koijee, as a part of implementing against political opponents of the ruling party, critical civil society voices, and other influential political actors who are not supporters of President Weah, a kill-list allegedly drawn up by the CDC-led government.

The UP National Youth Congress, which divulged that it is in possession of a “Kill List” allegedly compiled by the CDC-led government, indicated that it condemns what it referred to as the CDC-led government’s alleged leaked assassination list containing major opposition leaders, and called on the Liberia National Police (LNP), to investigate the matter, and provide protection for every Liberian.

This latest accusation by the former ruling Unity Party, could not be independently verified.

However, Police spokesman Moses Carter has said the Liberia National Police has not received a notification from the former ruling Unity Party over an alleged killer list’ for investigation and warn against wide accusation to undermine the stability of the State.

Carter told IPNEWS that currently, the road accident unit of the Liberia National Police is still investigating circumstances that led to the passing of the late Kollie and calls on the UP-Youth league to come forth with information to assist the investigation.

Prior to his demise, according to the UP National Youth Congress, Kollie “was being monitored for days before the final “kill plan” was executed using an accident style.”

The National Youth Congress of the Unity Party indicated further that before the fatal car hit-and-run accident, Kollie and some friends were given inducements to commandeer the membership of the Yana Boys Association to turn out for a CDC’s planned petition ceremony, to which the late Prince Kollie refused the honor.

“The Youth Congress recalled that there is a litany of cases of similar nature that has gone cold with no proper investigation because of the governing CDC’s complicity in these murders and extra-judicial killings.

“The Evergreen National Youth congress of the Unity Party condemns these archaic and barbaric political maneuverings and calls on the Liberian National Police to ensure the safety of all Liberians moving towards these crucial time of the country’s pending elections, regardless of their political persuasions,” said the Youth Congress, which indicated that it stands against the misrule and wanton corruptions in the already retired Government of President Weah.

The National Youth Congress of the Unity Party is meanwhile, calling on the Ministry of Justice to indict and prosecute perpetrators of what it described as heinous crimes perpetrated against peaceful Liberians.

“In the same disposition, the Congress also calls on our International Partners to include: MRU, ECOWAS, AU, EU, and the US to alert as the defunct CDC regime unleashes evil on critical voices in our democratic space, during these highly fragile political times,” the UP National Youth Congress’ statement indicated, adding that it will begin providing security for all members of the opposition bloc if these matters are not independently investigated and adjudicated appropriately.

In a sharp reaction, the office of Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Koijee, has rubbished the UP-Youth League accusation and called on it to show proof of its accusation.

Public Relation Director, Pekeleh Gbuapaye, told IPNEWS that the UP-Youth League accusation was the mere distraction of Saturday’s might show of public support of the CDC which has sent uncontrollable running stomachs to the position community including the Unity Party.

Gbuapaye, stated that Mayor Koijee, is more concerned with expanding the CDC wings across Liberia, for a first-round victory of President George Manneh Weah, rather than engaging in mischief and undesirable distraction.

He advised members of the UP-Youth League to direct it energy to a more profound strategy to the heaviest political contest ahead of the October 2023 polls, rather than designing ‘small children’s tactics’ at the expense of the Secretary-General of the mighty CDC.
