IPNEWS-Margibi: Dozens of former drug users have graduated from the first phase of the Government of Liberia’s At-Risk Youth Detoxification and Rehabilitation Program.
The US13.9-million-dollar program which was launched in 2022 by government in collaboration with the United Nations is additional effort amid reform of Liberia’s drug laws.
President George Weah and a host of senior government officials as well as UN officials graced the occasion.

The program took place at the At-Risk Youth Detoxification and Rehabilitation Center in Boys Town, Margibi County.
It aims to provide rehabilitation, skills training, social integration, and employment opportunities for At-Risk youth across Liberia.

The over 30 graduates will still have to go through other phases of the program before being formally reintegrated into the society.
Some of these young people recounted living in ghettos, street corners, and cemeteries whilst often resorting to crimes, including armed robberies among others.
They hailed government and partners.
