“Mockery of the 1st Order”, Opposition Politician, Freeman, Opposes ‘We Tire Suffering’ Rally

IPNEWS: Opposition politician, Simeon Freeman, has said while he acknowledges the prevailing economic hardship across Liberia, the December 17, 2022, planned ‘We tire suffering rally’ is unnecessary and an act of self-glorification by one man to promote his own political ambition, an apparent reference to Alexander Cummings, political leader of the Alternative National Congress, ANC, organizer of the planned rally.

According to Mr. Cummings and his ANC, the planned rally is not only an opposition gathering but a gathering of all Liberians, who are tired of suffering irrespective of their political affiliations.

Speaking in Monrovia a at a news conference on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at his offices in Sinkor, Mr. Freeman, a businessman and presidential aspirant in the 2023 presidential and legislative elections, said the ‘we tire suffering rally’ will not provide solutions to the problems of ordinary Liberians, but further mock and humiliate them.

The ANC political leader, who contested the Liberian presidency in 2011 and 2017, said any politician in sympathy with the suffering of the citizens should engage in productive ventures that would help improve their living conditions by providing their basic needs including good roads and better health and educational services and not put them in the streets to take part in a rally to support the political interest of one man.

Mr. Freeman said anyone, group or politician interested in helping Liberians out of hardship must begin to direct their resources and efforts towards improving hospitals, roads and the educational sector.

“The best way to empathize with people, who are suffering, is not to mobilize them into the streets. When people demonstrate, it is not going to reduce the price of rice, when people demonstrate, it will not solve anything, including the improvement of the health and educational sectors, neither the provision of jobs for them, what it will do is scare investors away,” Mr. Freeman noted.

He also said the best way to help the suffering masses is to lend them money with minimum interest to help bring prosperity to them.

“We are working with Susu or money lending clubs across the Country to lend money to small business owners and to reduce interest rate and that’s the way to help people, who are tired of economic hardship. We are working with some medical doctors to provide free medical services to the people. We did that before and we are doing it again. That’s the way to help people, who are tired of suffering,” Mr. Freeman said.

Commenting on the pending 20223 national elections, the MPC political leader said they should not be about glorifying few people but must be about taking the anger of our frustration to elect the right people that have the clear vision to transform this Country.

“Rather than looking for leaders that understand the issues, we are looking for leaders that will attack President Weah. I don’t even know why Mr. Weah was elected. He was senator, he said nothing, he did not attend any debate, but yet you elected him”, Mr. Freeman said.

The ANC political leader said he is a well-established businessman and is not desperate to become president of Liberia, but desirous to be to help transform the Country.
