Breaking News: Joe Biden to Meet Pres. George Weah, And Five other African Leaders Tomorrow over Smooth 2023 Election Transition

IPNEWS: President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet President George Manneh Weah and five other African leaders on Thursday, December 15, 2022.

According to a dispatch from Washington D.C.,  president Biden is expected to highlight the sustenance of democracy on the Africa continent, especially for countries that are going to elections in 2023.

The dispatch also notes President Joe Biden will seek to work with the African leaders for smooth transition to democratic rule.

President Joe Biden is also expected to urge the leaders of six African nations facing elections in 2023 to ensure that balloting is free and fair.

Biden will hold a private meeting at the White House on Wednesday with leaders from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Liberia, Nigeria, Madagascar, and Sierra Leone to discuss elections and democracy in Africa, a National Security Council spokesperson said.

Those countries invited to the meeting are Nigeria, Liberia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Madagascar, and Gabon.

Before this scheduled meeting, Liberian officials were heartbeat about any planned bilateral talks.

Deputy Information for Technical Services, Boakia Fofana, stated Tuesday morning, December 13, 2022, on OK FM that the government of Liberia delegation was unaware of any bilateral talks between President George Weah and his American counterpart, President Joe Biden.

On Tuesday, December 13, President Joe Biden commenced a meeting with leaders from across the African continent in Washington, DC, for the U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit.

The Summit will demonstrate the United States enduring commitment to Africa, and underscore the importance of U.S.-Africa relations and increased cooperation on shared global priorities.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet presidents from South Africa, Rwanda, Namibia, Egypt, Ghana, Djibouti, Senegal, Nigeria, and a few others.

Unfortunately, sources tell NEWS that an initial meeting scheduled with Liberia’s President George Manneh Weah has been called off. There has been no reason for the cancellation.

The presidential press secretary to President George Weah is yet to respond to an earlier SMS message by IPNEWS over the abrupt cancellation.

“Africa will shape the future — not just the future of the African people, but of the world. Africa will make a difference in tackling the most urgent challenges and seizing the opportunities we all face.

The U.S.-Africa Leaders’ Summit will build on our shared values to better:

“I look forward to working with African governments, civil society, and diaspora communities across the United States, and the private sector to continue strengthening our shared vision for the future of U.S.-Africa relations.” – JOSEPH R. BIDEN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED ST
