Pro-CDC Militants Who Allegedly Attacked Amb. Lewis Brown in Court

The four pro-CDC militants, Soe, Jallah, Marvie, Marwolo covered their faces as they left the court.

Monrovia-Liberia: The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged and sent to court four pro-Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) militants for allegedly attacking Ambassador Lewis Brown.

The four defendants Soe, Jallah, Marvie, Marwolo, and others to be identified were charged with crimes including Rioting, Failure to Disperse, and Obstructing Highways and Public Passages, in violation of chapter 17, section 17.7.

Other crimes are criminal mischief, in violation of chapter 15, section 15.5, and disorderly conduct in violation of chapter 17, section 17.3 of the revised penal code pending court trial.

Lewis Brown, former Liberian Ambassador to the United Nations and head of the new Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) leader Alexander Cummings 2022 Campaign Team was recently attacked by pro-CDC militants at the Voice of Liberia radio station in Monrovia; where he had gone to propagate his planned December 17 ‘We are Tiyah’ rally.

According to the police, during the investigation, it was established that the defendants and others to be identified were seen with sticks and other deadly objects and chanting anti-Lewis Brown slogans, “Lewis Brown wants to bring war.”

The police investigation further stated as the pro-CDC militants were chanting the slogans, the threat level against Amb. Brown increased.

After a few hours of chanting slogans, the police investigation narrated that some officers of the LNP arrived on the screen to restore calm and bring relief to Mr. Brown and his men who accompanied him including the employees of the station that Mr. Brown visited.

Among other things, the Police investigation noted that while the LNP officers were trying to escort Mr. Brown, the defendants regrouped themselves and started throwing stones at the former Information Minister and the PSU officer that were safeguarding the chairperson of Team Cummings, and the lead planner of the December 17, 2022 planned protest.

In the process of the stones throwing, the Police say the windshield of one of the PSU vehicles was damaged. According to the Police, the cost of the damage is put at over US$250. Courtesy SMART News Liberia.
