IPNEWS, Capitol Hill Monrovia- A local media organ, Cable Media-Liberia & Cable- TV reports that it has reliably been informed that, Legislators up Capitol Hill from both Houses are currently gathering signatures to postpone the pending population census to next year January 15, 2023.
The final adoption of the newest resolution brings to two the number of resolutions from the Legislature concerning the 2022 National Population Census, after the Census was originally scheduled from October 24, 2022 to November 7, 2022, but was rescheduled for this Friday – November 11, 2022.
Rep. Larry Younquoi – Nimba County
Cable quoted sources from the corridor of the both Houses have confirmed that the pending Resolution stems from Representative Larry P. Younquoi of District #8, Nimba County recent Communication to the Plenary craving the indulgence of his colleagues to postpone the already delayed Census that is expected to start, tomorrow, Friday because of other circumstances surrounding the recruitment.
“Distinguish colleagues, I am appealing to this august Body to kindly mandate the Speaker to liaise with the leadership of the Senate to have the Legislature savage the on-going process by putting a halt to it and increases the oversight of the Legislature over the whole exercise while directing LISGIS and partners to recalibrate the process in order to lend it to producing the desired result,” Rep. Younquoi said in a communication to plenary of the House.
According to impeccable source from Capitol Hill, the Lawmakers were expediturely signing the resolution to postpone the Census that is slated for this Friday, November 11, 2023.
Rep. Younquoi, is the current Chair on the House Committee on Good Governance and he is an expert who previously worked as demographer in many Country including his own country Liberia.
Rep .Younquoi has earlier asserted on other Media outlets that, the entire process is still characterized by controversies because conditions ranging from poor recruitment, and uncoordinated training were undermining the process.
Meanwhile, with the Census scheduled to commence tomorrow, November 12, 2022 it is not known whether the lawmakers have obtained the required signatures needed in order to pass resolution that will postpone the Census once again.
