Peter Quaqua School of Journalism Products Conclude PUL/Internews Fellowship alongside UL Media Students

Monrovia-Release: About 17 products of the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism-PQSJ have concluded the first phase of media fellowship implemented by Internews, a USAID Media Activity in Monrovia.

According to press statement released by Media-Aid Foundation on Sunday, August 6, 2022, the fellowship funded by the United States Government was proposed by the Press Union-of Liberia to provide a further mentorship and stipend for all participating media students.

The 17 beneficiaries from the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism-PQSJ included 15 Senior Students and two Alumni who had been attending the University of Liberia as well.

During the 3 months Journalism Fellowship, the PQSJ products along with others from the University of Liberia Department of Mass Communication & Media Studies were trained in various newsroom activities including courses such as; data journalism, digital safety, mobile journalism production, environmental and health reporting, as well as reporting on other spheres of governance.

Beneficiaries from the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism-PQSJ included: Jenneh T. Borbor who was mentored at the Heritage Newspaper, Princess Fatu Naimah and Gbolu Beatrice Beyan at the Daily Observer, Zogbo S. Mulbah and Fatu S. Sambola at the Inquirer Newspaper and Georgia Doe at the News Newspaper.

Others were: Kay Mantor and Stephen Konton, Sr. were assigned at the Public Trust Media Group, Marleyatou S. Barry and Moses Gbalai at Prime FM, Rufus Francis and Caroline Gensee at OK FM, Larry Dapae at LUX FM, Vivian Destinforgreatness Morris at ECOWAS Radio and Frederick Tee Teegwiah Jr. at the Liberia Broadcasting System-LBS.

Meanwhile, MediaAid Foundation, owner of the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism-PQSJ formally congratulates all of its students for the extra achievement, and sees the selection of the school for the USAID Media Activity as a boost to the journalism community in Liberia.
