Madam Ylatun then urged her citizens not to be carried away by negative ‘hit messages’ preached against the president by members of the opposition bloc.

At the same time, the District Superintendent of Jroa, Manndeh Tarpah said they are already in the know that President George Weah is their kinsman and will give him the desired political support during the elections.

He commended the county Superintendent for reminding them of the right things to do before the electoral process begins within the district.

Construction of Housing Units in Grand Kru

It can be recalled President George Weah promised to construct housing units in his home county for less privileged citizens and residents in the county. In Jrao statutory district, Sasstown down beach, several housings were constructed as the entire county is to benefit from over 200 housing units.

The Housing Units constricted in the county comprised two bedrooms, a living room, bathroom and two porches.

Prior to the construction of the Housing units, thatched houses that belonged to the underprivileged residents were broken down for replacement by the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) to allow only beneficiaries of Sasstown, Grand Kru County, to benefit from the Presidential Pro-Poor Housing Units.

The Building Construction Company (BCC) was contracted to build 170 housing units in six of the nine towns in Sasstown while Mobel was contracted to construct 33, also in the six towns.

The successor towns include Jekwikpo, Felorkri, Daryokpo, Kitea, Klaydia, and Kunie. Norkwia, Sloyee, and Wessah towns are the only towns in Sasstown, which are not included.

Accordingly, the BCC was expected to complete 108 units, while Mobel would erect 33 units to be publicly turned over by the end of August 2020.

The estimated cost of the Grand Kru County Pro-Poor Housing Unit is about US$3.6 million and each cost of the construction is put at US$18,000. By Fedrick Kaydiplah Kumeh in Grand Kru;
