House Adjourns 2nd Quarter …….Passes Several Human Sensitive Bills

IPNEWS: Members of the House of Representatives have closed for the Second Quarter of the 5th Session of that Honorable August body.

The Second Quarter of the 5th ran from May 17, 2022, to July 22, 2022.

Giving updates during the formal closing on Friday, July 22, 2022, Deputy House Speaker, Cllr. Fonati Koffa said a total of twenty (20) regular sessions were held, thirteen Executive Sessions, two (2) Special Sessions, eleven (11) appearances of Ministers and directors.

Deputy Speaker Koffa noted that a total number of bills introduced in the House were 42 of which 27 were passed, while executive bills passed were 16, senate bills concur with were 4, number of house bills passed were 5, number of house joint resolution was 1, number of certificates of extension was one.

According to the Deputy Speaker, a total of 15 bills are currently in the committee room which include 5 House bills, 3 Executive bills, 5 Senate bills and 5 petitions.

He said during the period under review, the House of Representatives was able to pass a significant number of bills including most of the integrity bills that the eye of Liberians and the international community has looked upon members of the house of Representatives to act on.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Koffa has constituted a special committee to steer the affairs of the house while on recess.

Those appointed are: Honorable Lawrence Morris of Montserrado County, Honorable Vicent Willie of Grand Bassa County, Honorable Isaac Roland of Maryland County, Honorable Mambu Sonii of Grand Cape Mount County, Honorable Marvin Cole of Bong County, Honorable Clarence Massaquoi of Lofa County, Honorable Joseph Somwarbi of Nimba County, and Honorable Erol Madison Gwion of Grand Gedeh County.

Others appointed include, Honorable Finda Lassana of Bomi County, Honorable Ellen Attoh Wreh of Margibi County, Honorable Rosanna Shack of River Cess County, Honorable Nathaniel Barway of Grand Kru County, Honorable Alexander Pour of River Gee County, Honorable Cllr. Kanio Wesso of Gbarpolu County, and Honorable Sampson Wiah of Sinoe County.
