LNP Arrests Several Scamming Journalists

IPNEWS: The Liberia National Police has arrested and is investigating several scamming Journalists who have been allegedly extorting money from prominent individuals.

The alleged suspected Journalists were picked up on July 20, 2022, at the residence of the President and CEO of the FOE-BE Agricultural Corporation, Mr. Philip Bayor Dwuye, Sr.

During Police preliminary probe with victim Dwuye, Sr., he narrated that the herein Journalists called and demanded a sum of Twenty Thousand United States Dollars (USD20,000.00) in order to prevent them from publishing a story they had on him for having a love affair with a 17-year-old female minor.

Victim Philip Baryor continued that, due to their constant text messages and further negotiations, he persuaded them (Journalists) to have a rendezvous at his home, while he had already contacted the Police for the arrest of the scamming journalists.

While the scamming journalists were enjoying themselves and anticipating their money, they were intercepted by officers of the LNP and they were arrested and acquainted of their Miranda Rights.

Those arrested include Melvin Monden, 36, Israel Amoah Duncan, 37 (both from Spoon FM/TV) and Tennyson Torplue, 36 of the Independent Online TV, while Joseph Somah of the TV Lib. Online, Thomas Tawon (D Tweh TV) and Toby to be identified are all at large.

The suspects who have allegedly duped several Citizens are currently detained at the Headquarters of the LNP pending prosecution.
