—- Liberia Baptist Men Holds 17 Mid-Year Session
IPNEWS: The Liberia Council of Churches has elected Rev. Dr. Samuel B. Reeves, Jr., as it’s new President replacing Rev. Dr. Kortu Brown.
Rev. Dr. Reeves, a tough-talking Baptist Prelate, was elected on Friday, May 27,2022, to serve a two years term.
Rev. Samuel Reeves, Jr.,is the presiding Pastor, Providence Baptist Church, Connor, Ashmu, Center and Broad Streets, Monrovia, and the Church in which the declaration of independence for Liberia was signed.
Rev. Dr. Reeves, promised Structural and Administrative Reforms at the LCC
Speaking at the climax of the Liberia Council of Churches 33rd Annual General Assembly, president elect Rev. Dr. Samuel Reeves of the Liberia Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention called it an honor and privilege for his new preferment.
He pledge to steer the affairs of the LCC with a more collaborated effort as he recognizes himself as the head of the team but promises to see more of the team and less of him.
Dr. Reeves was full of praise for his predecessor Bishop Kortu K. Brown whom he have had a long standing relationship with and offered to closely work with him in order to take the LCC to another level as the outgoing leadership shift the helm of authority from a position they have bettered and so would he and his team turn over leadership after service better to whoever comes after.
He further promised to embark on an administrative and structural reforms so that the LCC can continue to be a place of integrity in the Republic of Liberia.
Dr. Reeves further called on everyone for support and bare no excuses in the strive to collectively take the LCC from heights to higher heights.
For governmental approach, the Baptist Prelate promised that the Liberia Council of Churches won’t be friend nor enemy to the government but rather partners as they look to work for the progress and development of Liberia.
In October 2020, Rev. Samuel V. Reeves, Jr. was elected as, President, Liberia Baptist Mission and Educational Convention, during its 46 midyear extra ordinary session.
The 46 midyear extraordinary session begun imperative due to the emergence of the Coronavirus pandemic which undermined the holding of the regular holding of the Baptist Convention in accordance with the bylaws of the Liberia Baptist Mission and Educational Convention requiring elections in April.
The Preston University Theological veteran defeated his main contenders, Rev. Max Johnson and Rev. Dr. Benjamin Yaneh, 89 to 48 and 42 votes respectively.
A total of 180 registered members of the LBMEC participated in the elections.
Cross section of Baptists and observers told IPNews minutes after conduct of the elections that the 46 extraordinary session of the LBMEC was one of the best in terms of conduct and adherence to all rules governing the election of officers of the Baptist Convention.
Rev. Samuel B. Reeves, Jr., ahead of the campaign for the race of President of the LBMEC, promised to serve with diligence.
Rev. Reeves noted that the LBMEC is at a critical junction which requires the fullest partnership and total involvement of all to build the Human Resource capacity of Convention churches, Pastors and Church Leaders through Pastoral Care, Church Administration, Church Planting, Church Growth, Missions, Evangelism, and Scholarships.
The Preston University Theological icon promised to create a Convention-wide Pastors’ and Church Staff retirement Fund savings program.
He further promised to established a Regional Agriculture Cooperatives, for the support of Convention churches, the revitalization of current institutions to make the Convention true to its propose and the formation of new institutions.
The Providence Baptist prelate promised to provide Inspirational, result-driven and ethical leadership to support our Convention to achieve excellent in Missionary and Educational goals.

Meanwhile the Liberia Baptist Men Department, will hold it’s 17 Mid-Year Session, from May 28-29,2022, under the theme: “Re-enforcing the Foundation: The path to Reconstruction”
The Liberia Baptist Men Department of the Liberia Baptist Missionary & Educational Convention, Inc. will convene at it’s 17th Mid-Year Session at the Zion Grove Baptist Church, Brewerville City, Montserrado County.
During this session, the Liberia Baptist Men Department/LBMEC will sign MOU among the Lutheran Church Men Fellowship, the Conference United Methodist Men Organization and the Episcopal Church Men of Liberia.
