Samukia’s Playbook Against Alex Cummings Busted! To Contest CPP Ticket In 2023

IPNEWS: what turns out to be a concocted play to dent the character of the Political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) is now busted amidst exodus of partisans of the All Liberian Party (ALP).

The authoritative Independent Probe has reliably learned that a plan to rewrite the marathon trail of the Brownie Samukai’s in the case of Alexander Cummings of the Alternative National Congress can no longer persist or be reality as close inner cycle members of the All Liberian Party, who crafted an operation core name ‘Samukia’s playbook’, are now dissatisfied over the posture of ALP political Leader Benoni Urey.

“IPNEWS, let me tell you this. Before I defected from the ALP, we’ve hashed a plan leading to the filling of the legal suit against that Mr. Alexander Cummings, to ensure that the case become a marathon to embarrass Cummings and present him ill-fated for the Liberian presidency in the ensuing general Legislative and Presidential Elections in 2023.”

“Cummings will be taken from one court to another and even after he has exonerated himself off ‘forgery and criminal conspiracy’, the elections processes would have gone very far to make an impact.”  The source confidently told IPNEWS.

IPNEWS investigation also reveal that some executive members who recently resigned, including a plan exodus of others are unhappy with the mid-night lone meetings of Mr. Urey with senior government officials at their detriment.

A source who also defected from the ALP narrates to IPNEWS that Mr. Benoni Urey, is treating Executive Members of the ALP as kids and running a ‘one-man-show’ which can no long be tolerated.

“I tell you this, two weeks ago Mr. Urey with the aid of a very senior and powerful Minister of the Weah’s government brought into the country five investors invited to the country by Mr. Urey and accorded all the diplomatic leverage.”

“We cannot be risking our lives, and lives of families, including income when Urey is running a one-man-show with a mind that we are his kids and take just but anything when he tells us. This is unacceptable and we cannot no long continue this!” The disenchanted ALP partisan told IPNEWS.

In recent days there has been reports of Miss Talia Urey (daughter of Mr. Urey) being tipped as Liberia’s next Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Canada.

This week, eleven party officials jointly announced the termination of their membership with the opposition All Liberian Party (ALP) of businessman-turned-politician Benoni Urey.

The defected ALP Partisans stated that are opposed to the disintegration of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) which ALP recently said is breaking away from.

The outgoing ALP officials announced the termination of their membership with Mr. Urey’s party at a press conference held in Paynesville Wednesday, 5 January 2022.

The group of party officials are parting company with ALP at a time their political leader Mr. Urey has pulled the party out of the CPP and also sued one of CPP’s constituent party Alternative National Congress (ANC’s) standard-bearer Mr. Alexander B. Cummings for alleged forgery and criminal conspiracy.

Those who signed it include National Vice Chairman for Mobilization and Recruitment, Momo A. Sambola; Janjay P. Zodagar, River Cess County; D. Ellis Koffa, Sinoe County; Miatta Fahnbulleh, Grand Cape Mount County; Mohammed O. Sheriff, Lofa County; Margaret Cooper, Vice-Chair, Grand Bassa; Alfred B.S. Jerbo, Margibi County; Augustine T. Toe, Grand Kru County.

On Monday, January 3, ANC political leader on Monday accused the George Weah-led government of conniving with the political leader of the All Liberian Party (ALP), which is also a member of the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), to further enhance the disunity brewing among the opposition political parties.

However, Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie swiftly debunked the allegation against the government and noted that, “The Liberian Government is focused on continuing its efforts at delivering on the national development agenda and has interest in the petit and divisive internal political arrangements of the CPP.”

The ALP had announced their withdrawal from the CPP which comprise four opposition political parties including the ALP, ANC, Liberty Party (LP) and the Unity Party (UP).

The ALP on Monday complained Mr. Cummings and the ANC to the court alleging that Cummings had illegally attached the signatures of its leaders to an alleged altered Framework Document filed with the National Elections Commission.

Though the CPP Framework Document was crafted when the ALP political leader, it was submitted to the National Elections Commission under the Cummings’ administration following some revisions after a public backlash at some provisions in the original document.

Cummings has always maintained his innocence on the alleged tampering attributed to him. He told the BCC Focus on Africa on Monday, “How will I change a document that also affects me?”

In October 2021, impeccable sources hinted IPNEWS that leaders of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) had established that there were “NO ” alterations made to the CPP framework document contrary to claims by outgoing CPP Chairman Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence.

IPNEWS then established that those claims alteration by ANC standard bearer Alexander B. Cummings, was a false claim being mastermind by All Liberian Party’s Political leader Benoni Urey.

Authoritatively IPNEWS established that the purported alterations investigation panel ignored valuable portion of the framework document filing timelines.

According to evidence available to IPNEWS from excerpts of the lawyer’s report states that neither the then CPP secretary General Alyious Toe, who handled lots of the processes and documentation was never invited by the committee nor were the Lawyers able to validate the committee’s report on the framework document.

Further IPNEWS investigation uncovered that the report did not state in unequivocal and unambiguous terms which portions of the framework document were altered and how this gives the ANC political leader edge amidst claims of alteration.

Cummings: “I didn’t alter the Framework Agreement

For his part, Cummings said he didn’t alter the Framework Agreement, but acted honorably in registering the CPP.

Cummings acknowledged that the CPP has struggled with public distrust, and expressed regrets that such disagreements have unfortunately spilled into the public.

The ANC standard bearer said such public disagreements and distrusts have turned attention to CPP at the advantage of President George Weah.

“We have all known, and I believe the public expected, that our decision to come together would have moments of disagreements. But no disagreement should weigh against our collective resolve to always put the interests of the Liberian people first, which is to hold the Weah government accountable; help to ease the suffering of Liberians under this corrupt, incompetent and wasteful government; and democratically end the failed Weah administration as a one-term presidency,” Cummings says.

Cummings, meanwhile, called for calm within the CPP “despite the strong sentiments of feeling provoked, often alone, and without choice but to fight back for their and mine hard earned reputation.”

CUMMINGS TO CONTEST CPP TIKET IN 2023

Meanwhile the Opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC) standard-bearer Alexander B. Cummings has hinted that he is prepared to contest for the presidency of Liberia alone, adding that leadership is carrying the burden alone.

‘’When I say, going to contest for the presidency alone, I don’t mean I’m going outside the CPP [Collaborating Political Parties]. I necessarily mean I’m going alone as a person, as a leader right. It says that leadership is lonely,’’ Mr. Cummings said Wednesday, 5 January 2022.

His comment on the OK FM 99.5 evening conversation Wednesday came at a time the CPP which he once chaired, has been rocked in a bitter internal fight leading to one constituent party the All Liberian Party (ALP) announcing its plan to exit.

“The burden of leadership rests on you alone and I am prepared to carry that burden alone because this is about the Liberian people and making change for our country,’’ Mr. Cummings added.

Liberians are due to go to the polls in 2023 in general and presidential elections and there are dozens of political parties, some in collaboration, seeking to battle incumbent President George Manneh Weah.

Amidst suspicion, and unending internal division for power and control which lasted almost throughout 2021 to current, Mr. Cummings, is now expressing interest in forming a new alliance with other grassroots political parties to contest alone for Liberia’s presidential seat.

According to him, not everybody has the shoulder, spine and the value to carry the burden of leadership.

But he believes that he has those values and he has been demonstrating them to the Liberian people.

The businessman-turned-politician explained that if the CPP stays together, he believes that he will emerge as its standard-bearer.

However, in case it breaks up, Cummings added that he hopes he will run or contest for the presidency alone in 2023, noting that the key thing is that real change will be on the ballot one way or the other.

“I have said this consistently, that if we go to the CPP process we agreed and the outcome of the process is somebody else, I will support them. I am confident that I will win the CPP convention because I have the support internally,” he noted.

“For the presidency, I will win because Liberians want real change and they understand that the structure and system are not in their interest,’’ Mr. Cummings continued.

According to Mr. Cummings, he and Liberia’s former Vice President and current CPP chair Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai recently met in Ghana and had a meeting, but he failed to disclose what the meeting was about.

Cummings dismissed rumors from the public that he offered money for former Vice President Boakai to back off from the presidential race and contest instead as vice running mate. (courtesy of IPNEWS/FPA/NEWDAWN)
