You Can’t Become President by Hiding – Former LP Chair Sanvee Warns Boakai

IPNEWS-Monrovia: In the wake of the ongoing legal battle between the opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC) political leader, Alexander Cummings and the All Liberia Party (ALP) political leader, Benoni Urey, the former Chairman of the Liberty Party (LP) Benjamin Sanvee has warned the current chairman of the Collaboration Political Parties (CPP) Joseph Boakai that he cannot become president of Liberian if he continues to hide behind the scenes.

Speaking on the popular Spoon Talk Show on Tuesday evening, January 4, 2022, Mr. Sanvee said former Vice President Boakai has to come out of his shell to confront national issues as well as find a remedy for the ongoing saga within the CPP as chairman and prove his leadership skills if he really wants to become president of Liberia.

“I continue to wonder why is it that Mr. Boakai continuously remain silent to tackle issues confronting the CPP and as an elderly statesman, he sits idly by without intervention as the CPP disintegrate under his chairmanship. If Mr. Boakai cannot resolve an internal issue within the CPP, how does he expect Liberians to put their trust in him to lead them in 2023,” the former Liberty Party chairman asked.

Former President Sirleaf and former VP Boakai

He said for 12 unbroken years Mr. Boakai was Vice President to former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf so Liberians did not get to know his leadership ability, but on the contrary he told Liberians that he was the go-to-guy in the government whenever there were problems that needed to be resolved.

But as chairman of the main opposition CPP, Mr. Boakai has not demonstrated that he is a leader who can be entrusted with state power to lead Liberia because he has failed to resolve the internal wrangling within the Collaboration.

Mr. Sanvee then admonished former VP Boakai to step up his game and stop hiding behind the scene to prove his leadership skills if he really wants to be the next president of Liberia.
