IPNEWS-Monrovia: The founding father of the opposition Liberty Party (LP) Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine’s daughter, Atty. Charlyne Brumskine has pronounced she remains neutral in the ongoing political saga within the LP between party chairman Musa Bility and political leader Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence.

Atty. Brumskine says she cannot agree or disagree with LP partisans who have endorsed CPP candidate for the standard bearer-ship in the middle of an internal crisis, nor support or disagree with the nullification the 2021 special convention that brought in the current leadership as well as support or disagree with the suspension of the Political Leader and other leaders for non-payment of dues.

She says what she chose to do is to stand with the principles and values that Liberty Party was built on and the masses who are despairingly watching what is being played out in the public arena.

Addressing the media at her CMB Law firm office in Monrovia on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, Atty. Brumskine called on the group on the side of the party Chairman, Musa Bility and their political leader Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence, to constitute a council of elders comprising of not more than 7 persons to engage the leadership to resolve the political impasse within the party.

According to Atty. Brumskine, the council will mediate and offer recommendations behind closed doors, as a means of moving forward.

She said they will ask the office of the Political Leader to recommend two persons, the Executive Committee two persons and have three neutral members on the council while she recommends the home of Cllr. Brumskine as the venue for the mediation to discuss and settle their internal wrangling.

Brumskine noted that, the basic elements the Party was built upon are: Reconciliation, Reform, Recovery and Rebuild; whilst reconciliation remains the hallmark as it serves as an action of making one view or belief compatible with another.

It can be recorded, on December 6, this year; about 13 Executive members were suspended including the political Leader of Liberty Party by the party Chairman for their alleged persistence refusal to pay dues which followed the aggrieved suspended members announcing the nullification of their 2021 convention that brought Musa Bility as Chairman of the party.

The action of suspended members of the party was later overruled by the National Elections Commission and few days after, Chairman Bility conducted a special Convention in Ganta Nimba County, where the Executive Members of the party agreed to endorse the Alternative National Congress (ANC) political Leader Mr. Alexander B. Cummings as their choice for the standard bearer-ship of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) for 2023 presidency.

Atty. Brumskine however told the reporters that, when her father passed away in 2019, she knew that there would be an immediate scramble for leadership in the Party.

“I knew that as the closest person to him politically and personally I would be an immediate target for those who would want to reduce and remove any remnants of Brumskine in the Party and take it in a new direction; and I also knew that I would be an immediate consideration for leadership for those who wanted to continue a Brumskine legacy.  At that time, I was in a place of deep mourning.  I decided and verbalized loudly to everyone that my Father had left a structure in place and that I did not intend to vie for Chairmanship or the Political Leadership of the Party” she asserted.

She narrated, she beseeched the partisans of their party, called on them to hold their heads high and promised they will never let them down as they will conduct themselves to remain truthful to the principles and legacy of Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine.
